Some 515 prime and cast sheep sold through Craig Wilson, where 435 lambs sold to average 226p with top prices of £115 paid for Suffolks from G Hurcomb, Bankhead and for Texels from Baltier Farming Co Ltd. Top per kg was 239p for Beltex from R Templeton, Carslae.

Cast sheep peaked at £130 for Texels from Mrs Kym Aitken McDonald, No3 South Balfern, and G Hurcomb, Bankhead.

Forfar

Lawrie and Symington, had 27 cattle and 472 prime sheep and cast ewes and rams at their sale, where bullocks (8) sold to 253p per kg for a 542kg Limousin from the Gask and to £1421.04 for a 573kg Limousin from Nethermyres, to average 231p per kg.

Heifers (19) peaked at 260p for a 520kg Limousin from Nethermyres and to £1464.84 for a 626kg Limousin from West Bog, to cash in at 235p.

New season lambs (423) sold to £122 for 54kg Texels from W Stewart and Co., Newton of Inshewan and to 246p for a 48kg Beltex cross from W Mather and Son, Shandford, to average 225p.

Cast ewes (49) sold to £111 for Texels from Grange of Conon.

Dumfries

AT C and D Auction Marts' sale OTMs were topped at £1192.50 for an Aberdeen Angus from Riggheads and to 164p for a Holstein from Balgreggan.

The sale of 1081 prime sheep saw 612 spring lambs average 230.6p with a top of £110 paid for Charolais from Loaningfoot.

The 469 cast ewes were sharper on the week, selling to £150 for Texels from Newbank with rams to £122 for Texels from Skipmyre.

Huntly

United Auctions sold 1000 prime sheep at their sale where new season lambs (491) averaged 218.6p per kg selling to 263p for 38kg Beltex from 14 Balloch Road, Keith and to £123 for 67kg Texels from Logie Durno, Pitcaple.

Stirling (Cale)

Caledonian Marts sold 65 bullocks, heifers and young bulls and 61 OTM cattle, at their sale where heifers sold to 245p on three occasions from W Dandie and Sons, Learielaw, Broxburn, D Dickinson, Brockwoodlees, Canonbie and JH and NT Turnbull, Meadowend, Clackmanan.

Top price per head was £1605 for a Limousin from Brockwoodlees.

Bullocks sold to 238p on two occasions from J Meikle, Turniemoon, West Calder and Brockwoodlees and to £1584 for a Limousin from M Orr, Penston, Macmerry.

Young bulls peaked at 215p for a Blonde from L Laird and Sons, Lochhead, East Wemyss and to £1628 for a Limousin from W Dick and Sons, Mains of Throsk, Throsk.

OTM’s averaged 140p selling to 176p for a Shorthorn from A J McDonald, Knocknaha, Campbeltown and to £1200 for a Charolais from D R Blair, Newbigging of Ceres, Cupar, while dairy cows averaged 109p having sold to 146p and £1020 from R Nelson, Blairmains, Culross.

On Tuesday, 564 spring lambs sold to average 228.3p, with a top price of £129 paid for a 51kg Beltex from Doune Farms, West Lundie, Argaty. Top per kg was 276p paid for Texels from R Kenny, Robertsonlane, Blairdrummond.

The 280 cast sheep peaked at £140 for Texel ewes from JW Farquharson, The Horn, with rams selling to £100 for Beltex from WS Young and Son, Mawcarse, Milnathort.

Stirling (UA)

SOME 3637 prime sheep sold through United Auctions, saw 2331 new season lambs sell to £120 for Suffolks from South Flanders and to 253p for Beltex from Easterton, to average 218.70p.

Trade was similar on the week for ewes (1176), which saw Westhall top the section at £166 with Texels while tups peaked at £123 for Suffolks from Northfield.

Thainstone

Aberdeen and Northern Marts weekly sale saw 19 bullocks average 213.8p having sold to

233p for a 560kg Limousin from Whiteside, Tullynessle, and to £1543.60 for a 680kg Limousin from Nether Mains, Torphins.

Heifers (31) cashed in at 217.9p, peaking at 237p for a 585kg Limousin from Hillocks, Whiterashes, and to £1501.65 for a 705kg Limousin also from Hillocks

The five young bulls sold to 163p for a 620kg Limousin from Rorandle, Monymusk, and £1381.80 for a 940kg Salers from Milton of Cullerlie, Echt, to average 151.3p.

Some 123 cast cattle were topped at £1530 by a Charolais from Auchincrieve, Rothiemay, and 196.5p per kg for a Limousin from Clunycrichton, Banchory.

New season lambs (712) averaged 221p having sold to 272.5p for 40kg Beltex from Tillyboy, Echt and £118 for 54kg Texels from Gowanloan, Durno, with old season types (45) selling to 188.5p for 39kg Continentals from Stoneyfield, Fyvie and £100 for 63kg Texels from Gowanloan, Durno.

Feeding ewes and rams (562) were topped at £157 for Texels from Mains of Craighall, Gartly.

Longtown

AT C and D Auction Marts, the 2303 prime lambs sold to 279p per kg for Beltex from TR and EA Milburn and Son, Wallend, Carlisle, and £132 for Charollais from R Sandison, Smerral, Caithness, to average 225.6p, with an SQQ of 224.8p, per kg.

Cast sheep (4515) peaked at £162 from J Runciman and Sons, Allanshaws, Galashiels with rams to £138 for Texels from CD Scott, Falla, Jedburgh.
