With all local shows cancelled, the Scottish Texel Breeders’ Club moved their Jubilee Points event an online format, running over a seven-week period and finishing on the day breeders should have been enjoying Biggar Show which was to play host to this year's trophy win.

The competition attracted 132 sheep from 39 flocks with 15 young handlers also competing.

Brian MacTaggart of the Douganhill flock judged the females, with Charlie Boden of the Sportsmans flock selecting the males. Young Katie Aiken of the Procters flock was tasked with placing the young handlers.

Brian and Charlie found their champion in a ewe lamb from Archie and John MacGregor, Allanfauld, Kilsyth. She is by Teiglum Brave, a Knock Yardsman son, and bred from Teiglum Young Gun’s mother – a Garngour Yeltsin-sired ewe.

For the reserve, they selected the first prize ram lamb from the Clarks at Garngour, Lesmahagow. He is by Procters Chumba Wumba and out of a Crailloch Ammunition daughter. He is destined for the Scottish National Sale at Lanark next month.

The Jubilee Points trophy was won by the Clarks’ Teiglum flock with seven points, with Gordon and David Gray's Ettrick flock, coming a close second and just one point behind.

Instead of an entry fee, the club asked for a small donation which will be donated to the local NHS, the amount raised currently stands at £985. Many breeders also generously donated their prize money to this great cause.
