Dumfriesshire breeder, Ewan Burgess, produced the lead priced ram lamb at 950gns at Harrison and Hetherington’s timed online sale of Berrichon sheep.

Mr Burgess who owns the Criffel flock from New Abbey, produced the joint top priced lot with Criffel Voltron, the first lamb offered for sale by Rakefoot Tywin. The dam, Criffel Penny is by Snowdonia Nautical. Voltron headed south to Swansea with Messrs Thomas, Pontarddulais, West Glamorgan.

Welsh breeder, B Evans of the Janos flock from Penrhos, sold five of the six top priced lots to include the £950 equal top priced lot. Janos Uncle Dai, a shearling ram by the 1600gns Janos Sydney, sold to Messrs Davies, Knighton, Powys. He is out of a Madryn ewe by a Strathallan ram.

Messrs Davies also purchased the second top priced shearling at £850, Janos Uncle John. A son of Pocket Rocket, he is out of Janos Rita, a Windrush Python daughter.

Mr Evans topped the gimmer trade too at £800 with Janos Ultra Sonic, which headed across the Irish sea with Messrs Pollock, Coleraine, County Londonderry. Another by Pocket Rocket, she is out of Janos Ruby Rose.
