The first of the rescheduled ‘Kelso Ram Sales’, at Harrison and Hetherington’s St Boswells Auction Mart, last weekend, met a flying trade with a catalogued entry of 420 tups witnessing a 96% clearance and an overall average of £750.

Sale leader at £4200 was a Texel shearling ram from James Herdman, Edlingham Newtown, Alnwick, which sold to the Whiteford family from Tercrosset, West Hall, Brampton. Edlingham also produced the lead Texel flock average selling 12 Texels at £1097.

Suffolks from J and A Pate, Nettlingflat, Heriot, also proved popular with sales at £4000 and £2700. The flock sold 10 Suffolks at £1410.
