Overall, eight Herdwicks sold at 1000gns to average £420.88 with an 86% clearance rate, while Swaledale rams peaked at 1000gns on two occasions to level at £307.93 with 87% finding new homes.

Breeding ewes (3679) were also keenly bid for and levelled at £77.20 (+£63.90) having sold to £150 for a pen of Cheviots from Kintail, Newton of Ferintosh.

Feeding ewes (498) saw a top price of £94 for Suffolks from Ardmore, Waternish, to level at £56.32 (+£46.21), while the 40 rams sold to £360 for a two-shear Texel from Fleucharry, Dornoch.

Store lambs (76) peaked at £64 for Cheviots from Blairich, Rogart.

The firm’s second ram sale sold to £1120 for a traditional Bluefaced Leicester shearling from J Shennan and Sons, Knockgerran, with 44 shearlings cashing in at £308.64 and five lambs at £266.
