A Charollais cross Texel gimmer led the way at Penrith and District Farmers’ Mart LLP selling to £170 from JT and EM Marrs, Broomhills.

The second sale of 1000 North of England Mule ewe lambs and breeding sheep of all classes saw Mule ewe lambs top the trade at £102 from M and J Potter, Ulcatrow.

Lambs (858) attained £90 for a Cheviot from Glen Kyles, Leverburgh, Isle of Harris, whilst ewes (859) peaked at £80 for a pen of Crosses from Arivruach, Lochs, Isle of Lewis.

Mule lambs topped the trade at £111 from D and D Huddleston.

Among the 4065 Swaledales, gimmers (523) averaged £122.54 (+£20.50 on the year), whilst ewe lambs (3542) balanced out at £68.18 (+£10.10).
