A Charollais cross Texel gimmer led the way at Penrith and District Farmers’ Mart LLP selling to £170 from JT and EM Marrs, Broomhills.

The second sale of 1000 North of England Mule ewe lambs and breeding sheep of all classes saw Mule ewe lambs top the trade at £102 from M and J Potter, Ulcatrow.

Blackface gimmers topped Dingwall and Highland Marts’ sale of 1941 sheep of all classes, selling at £140 from Garyvard, Lochs, Isle of Lewis.

Feeding sheep were topped at £130 by a Cheviot ram from Ballantrushal, Isle of Lewis.

Lambs (858) attained £90 for a Cheviot from Glen Kyles, Leverburgh, Isle of Harris, whilst ewes (859) peaked at £80 for a pen of Crosses from Arivruach, Lochs, Isle of Lewis.

Texel shearlings topped Caledonian Marts’ sale of 2457 breeding sheep, at £680 from AM Duncan, Easter Dullatur.

The sale of 520 gimmers was also topped by Texels at £200 from A Smith, Allanview, while breeding ewes peaked at £145 for more of the same from W Crawford, Craigend.

Ewe lambs were topped at £112 on two occasions, firstly for Mules from J and J Kinloch, Walton and again for Cheviot Mules from AD Millar, Bridgehouse.

On Monday, Hawes Auction Market, held their third sale of Mule and Continental ewe lambs, which averaged £86.20, up £18.80 on the year.

Mule lambs topped the trade at £111 from D and D Huddleston.

Among the 4065 Swaledales, gimmers (523) averaged £122.54 (+£20.50 on the year), whilst ewe lambs (3542) balanced out at £68.18 (+£10.10).

Ewe lambs were topped at £230 from R Hallam, whilst gimmers peaked at £180 from G Calvert and Sons.
