Clonagh Lucky Explorer was certainly fortunate at the Simmental Premier Sale at Roscommon, when making history for a record priced Simmental bull and an Irish record for any breed at €52,000 (£47,085).

The record-breaker (as reported last week) was a 17-month-old bull from Garrett Behan, Ballyfin, Portlaoise, and is a son of Manor Park Hansome, out of Clonagh Dora The Explorer, which goes back to Banwy T-Rex. Lancashire breeders, Jimmy and Vicki Wood, forked out the cash to take this boy home for their Popes herd in Preston.

The Behan family also secured the second highest bull price with the sale of Clonagh Lattin Lover at €6800.

Another May, 2019-born bull by the same sire, this time out of Clonagh Darling Eyes, also headed home in the same lorry to the Woods.

Another making its mark for the herd was Clonagh Lexus P when he sold for €4900. This heterozygous polled bull was again sired by Manor Park Hansome and out of Curaheen Gloria P ET.

Garrett Behan was again in the money with Clonagh Leinster Fabulous when he sold for €5900. This September, 2019-born bull is again by Manor Park Hansome, out of a Kilbride Farm Dragoon dam, Clonagh Glamorous Fabulous.

Hitting the €5000 mark was Lissadell Legacy ET, exhibited by Kieran and Paul Mullarkey, Ballinful, Co. Sligo. This 11-month-old bull is a son of Kilbride Farm Dragoon and out of Tawley Gretta, which goes back to Monaduff Snorter.

Chris White, Balbriggan, Co Dublin, also had a field day when his best, Dermotstown Lamborghini, made €4200. This 14-month-old bull, is sired by Dermotstown Delboy and out of a Keeldrum Capone bred dam, Dermotstown Fairlady.

Achieving the top heifer price of €11,500 was the second heifer into the ring Lissadell Kyrstal Speci ET from Kieran and Paul Mullarkey, Ballinful, Co Sligo. This Hillcrest Champion-sired heifer was also out of the Monaduff Snorter sired-dam, Tawley Gretta.

Lissadell Luxury VIP P from the same home, hit €8000

Three lots later, Lissadell Luxury VIP P was in the sales ring from the same home, hitting €8000. This April, 2019-born heifer is sired by Auroch Deuter PP, out of a Milnafua Graduate dam, Corbally Eires VIP.

Selling at €7800 was Fearna Madame Regal ET, from Gerry Neenan, Ballyhaunis, Co Mayo. This January, 2020-born heifer is sired by Dermotstown Delboy and is out of the Hillcrest Champion dam, Fearna Regal.

John Tuohy, Whitegate, Co. Galway, had a field day, selling two heifers at €6500 and €5900. Dearest of the two, Coose Luciana, is sired by Woodhall Farrari, out of an Auroch Bullet sired-dam, Seafort Gloria.

Coose Loveheart was next in the money at €5900 for the same home. This heifer is a daughter of his stockbull, Tulla Jaguar, and out of Coose Famous, which goes back to Curaheen Wakeman.
