All classes met a buoyant demand at Harrison and Hetherington's weekly sale, where trade peaked at £1550 for two Limousin cross heifers from Messrs Stamper, Rose Farm, Cockermouth.

Steers peaked at £1450 from Messrs Todd, Longhurst, Brampton, for their Limousin cross.

Top price at £1000 among the weaned cattle was a pair of Limousin bulls from Messrs Pattinson, Bonshawside, Lockerbie.

The same home also topped the heifers at £940, whilst steers sold to £925 for Limousin bullocks from Messrs Cowx, Hudscales.

The weekly sale of 220 calves saw a British Blue heifer top at £520 from George Rome, Nivenhill, Gretna, whilst bulls peaked at £500 for a Limousin from Messrs Livingstone, Kirtlevale, Gretna.

On Monday, a Texel lamb from Messrs Dixon, Croft House, Newbiggin, topped the sale at £96.

Dingwall

Some 56 store cattle were forward for Dingwall and Highland Marts sale where bullocks and heifers levelled at 211.1p per kg and 200.3p respectively.

Bullocks reached 242.9p per kg for a 175kg Aberdeen-Angus from Swordale, Bonar Bridge, and to £775 for a 400kg Beef Shorthorn from West Saval Lairg.

Leading the heifers was a 145kg Charolais cross from Corriebhienn Farms, Portree, which peaked at 262.1p , and top per head was a 515kg Aberdeen-Angus from Achnahuaigh, Lairg, which sold for £870.

Young bulls sold to 203.4p for a 290kg Aberdeen-Angus cross from Comar, Cannich, and to £950 for a 585kg Luing from Welbeck Estates. Whilst a Simmental cross in-calf cow topped the breeding cattle at £1120 from Brae Park, Duncanston.

A buoyant demand was met throughout at Harrison and Hetherington's store sale, where bullocks and heifers averaged 224.88p per kg and 195.55p respectively.

Beef Shorthorn bullocks topped the trade at £990 from Middlesknowes, whilst heifers achieved £940 for Simmentals from Tinnis.

Store sheep also met a strong demand reaching £92.50 for Texel cross lambs from Holydean House.

Ayr

A British Blue bullock from Bridgend, led the way at Craig Wilson's sale of 303 store cattle, selling to £1470, whilst top pence per kg made 264p for Aberdeen-Angus crosses from Mossneuk.

Trade remained strong throughout with 136 bullocks averaging 215.5p per kg and 144 heifers cashing in at 218.4p.

Heifers attained £1300 for a Charolais from Bridgend, and to 258.3p for a Shorthorn cross from Mossneuk.

The firm also sold 493 store lambs which peaked at £90 for Beltex from Robert Craig, Woodgreen.

Store cattle met a buoyant demand at Aberdeen and Northern Marts sale of 468 store cattle and young and weaned calves.

Bullocks (282) averaged 222.5p per kg and sold to 262.6p for a 318kg Charolais cross from Cairntack, Belhelvie, and to £1345 for a 636kg Charolais from Gerrieswells, Drumblade.

A 560kg Limousin cross from Scrabster House, Scrabster Mains, led the way in the heifers selling to 258.9p and £1450, with heifers balancing out at 216.4p.

Among the bulls, trade peaked at 198p for a 490kg Charolais from Mormond Prop, New Pitsligo, and to £1210 for a 668kg Saler cross from North Bethelnie.

The firm also sold 2046 breeding sheep and store lambs including island consignments, where store lambs averaged £70.13, whilst island lambs cashed in at £64.91.

Island lambs sold to £94 for Texels from Holland, Stronsay.

Among the store lambs a top price of £90 was achieved on three occasions, firstly for Texels from Mains of Allanbuie, Keith, again for more of the same breed from Greenacres, East Mitchelhill and finally for Beltex from Tillylodge, Newe.

The weekly sale of 3460 store lambs peaked at £111 for Beltex crosses from Hallington New Houses. Included in this week’s sale was a run of Texel ewe lambs from T Common and Son, Low Ardley, which topped at £200.

Trade sold to a top of 237p per kg for three 310kg Aberdeen-Angus crosses from Wester Elchies, Aberlour, and to £1130 for a 555kg Charolais from Clerkseat, Grange

Also hitting the 237p price tag were three 314kg Limousin crosses from Brunthill, New Deer, whilst three 505kg Charolais crosses from Weetyfoot, Grange, peaked at £1120.

Store sheep peaked at £85 for Texel crosses from Upper Lybster, Caithness.

On Monday, C and D Auction Marts held their fortnightly sale of store cattle, where trade peaked at £1295 for an Aberdeen-Angus bullock from Woodhall.

Heifers topped at £1220 for a Limousin from Easthill.

Bullocks and heifers averaged 214.9p per kg and 204.7p respectively.

Stirling (Cale)

The last store sale of the year at Caledonian Marts had forward 311 cattle, where bullocks and heifers averaged 219p per kg and 201p respectively.

Bullocks topped at 306p per kg for a pen of Aberdeen-Angus from B Walker, Carloonan, Inverary, and to £1140 for Limousins from A Taylor and Sons, Wester Carmuirs, Larbert.

Limousins dominated the heifers selling to 219p from C and I Herd, Easter Jawcraig, Falkirk, and to £1060 from J and W Sloan, Crosshill, Slamannan.

Also forward were 269 store lambs and feeding ewe, which saw a top price of £87 for Texel cross lambs from P Whyte, Wester Ochtermuthill, Muthill.

Ewes sold to a top of £59 for Mules from A McKenzie, Coldrach, Drymen.

Texel crosses from Carrabus, achieved £100 at United Auctions sale of 2539 sheep of all classes, with lambs balancing out at £69.38 (+£8.31 on the year).

The same home also sold Suffolk cross lambs for £94, whilst Suffolk cross ewes peaked at £80 from Bayview.
