Hawes Mart’s Christmas show and sale of primestock saw judge, Harold Birkbeck, Soulby, tap out a Beltex from R Garth, Bentham, as champion, later topping the lambs at £142 to Simon Foster, Bishop Wilton.
Reserve honours went to the second placed pen of continentals, Beltex from R Mudd and Son, Cubeck, which were sold at £115 to JW Cockett and Son, Butcher, Hawes.
Amongst the cattle, judge Raymond Easterby, West House, awarded the championship to JF Bowe and Son, Hawes, for their British Blue bull calf, which was chapped down at £465.
The same home also produced the reserve, this time a British Blue heifer calf which sold for £480.
