Carrock Kingpin Elegance secured the championship and the top price of 3300gns for Buckabank Farms, Dalston, at the Border and Lakeland Holstein Club sale at Carlisle, where 50% of the animals forward sold for more than £2000.

Judge, Ian Mitchell, Mirckbooths, Carlisle, found his champion in the December 2018-born heifer from Buckabank Farms. A potential 10th generation Excellent-classified cow with the five generations averaging 94points behind her, this Kerndtway Kingpin sold to the Forsyths of Baltier Farming, Whithorn, Newton Stewart.

The same buyers also went to 3000gns for the reserve champion, Berryholme Secretariat Dandy, from H Wright and Son, Berry Holme, Helsington. This September 2018-born is a daughter of All.nure Secretariat and out a VG85 dam, Berryholme Byway Dandy.

Berryholme Dempsey Rae also came up with the goods for the Wrights, when she made 2600gns selling to Harry Roper, Preston, Lancashire. A 27-month-old heifer, she is by Lirr Drew Dempsey and out of Berryholme Savior Rae.

The October 2018-born heifer, Tinehill Beemer Shower, made 2900gns for TC Alderson and Son, Scorton Road, South Cowton, who sold six cows and heifers to average £2310. Taking this Pol Butte MC Beemer daughter home was Jim Henderson, Mauchline, Ayrshire, who gets for his money a heifer bred from10 generations of Ex or VG dams.

Top priced cow at 2700gns was G and A McCormick’s Cormick Celeb Rachel Red from Brownfield Cottage, Dumfries. This 5½-year-old is a daughter of Cogent Celeb-p Red Poc, out of Cormick Jotan Rachel and headed home with Messrs Young, Wigton, Cumbria.

Another on the same money was the two-year-old, Twinfields Modesty Handlouis from Richard Bainbridge, Outfield, Newton. A Bacon-Hill Pety Modesty daughter, out of Cookiecutter Handlouis, sold to Leyburn Farming, Co Armagh.
