Lawrie and Symington, held their 807 store cattle sale in conjunction with the show and sale of Young Farmers over wintering cattle, where a 502kg heifer from Andrew Adam, Forfar YF, took both the champion and the top price of £1850.

Brother, James Adam of Forfar YF, bagged the reserve champion with his 548kg heifer, which later realised £1500.

Judge, William Moir, Cairness, selected his champion bullock from Andrew Beattie, Forfar YF, which crossed the weigh bridge at 602kg before selling for £1600.

Outwith the Young Farmers competition, heifers topped at £1680 and 359p per kg for a pair of 468kg Limousin crosses from GD MacDonald and Son, Meadows of Ballied, to average 258p.

Bullocks peaked at £1625 for a 746 kg Simmental from CMR Soutar, Peasiehill, and to 318p for 371kg Limousins from JH Garbutt and Sons, Sketewan, to level at 260p.
