More than 1200 ewes and lambs at foot came under the hammer at Harrison and Hetherington’s annual show and sale staged at Carlisle.

Topping the trade overall was the first prize single unit, a Beltex hogg and lamb from Messrs Carr, Little Bavington, which sold for £190 per head.

Adam Bell, Thethwaite, Raughton Head, awarded the champion continental pen to Texel cross Beltex hoggs and lambs from Messrs Fell, Harley Croft, Torpenhow for the second consecutive year, which sold to £175 per life.

Taking the first place Mule hoggs and hitting £130 per head was Messrs Ridsdale, Yew Tree.

The entire entry of 647 hoggs and lambs averaged £124.81 for all breeds, which includes twin units.
