A Badgerface Texel gimmer from Clive Richardson’s Cleenagh flock led the multi-breed pedigree online Summer Stunners sheep sale, staged through Harrison and Hetherington, when selling for £5300.

The timed online sale which included several breeds from Northern Ireland breeders, was topped by Cleenagh Beauti, an empty gimmer from Hillview, Enniskillen, purchased by Messrs Wright and Son, Boston, Lincs.

Cleenagh Beauti is a daughter of Cleenagh Celebrity Juice, while the dam is one of two flushing ewes in the flock by an imported Woodies sire.

Second top price amongst the breed was £3050 paid for another gimmer from A and J Carson, of the Little Whisker flock, Victoria Bridge, Strabane, Co Tyrone. Messrs Jones, Maesycrugiau, Pencader, Carmarthenshire, forked out the cash for this one by an imported sire and out of an imported ewe by the Dutch ram, Braam Raats.

After topping the sale Mr Richardson was back in the money among the Blue Texels, selling the lead priced lot at £4600. Cleenagh Baby Doll, a February 2017-born ewe, by the imported sire, Cleenagh Xquizit and out of Hackney Yalika, a Whatmore Siren daughter, sold with her ram lamb, Cleenagh Freddie Flintstone at foot by Whatmore Diesel. The outfit was bought by Messrs Cormack, Jedburgh.

Cleenagh Eye Full from the same stable made £4150 to an undisclosed buyer. This gimmer is by Whatmore Chizel, and bred from the Whatmore Siren sired-ewe, Cleenagh Bambino.

Second top price amongst the Blue Texels was £4350 paid for the ET-bred ewe lamb, Derg Fantasy, from S Allen and A Shortt of the Derg flock, Fyfin Road, Strabane. She is by Saltire Blue Derek, which has bred lambs to 7500gns, while the dam, Derg Coco Chanel, is by Cleenagh Alfonso. Fantasy remains in Ireland having been purchased by Messrs Millen, Coleraine, Co Londonderry.

Topping the Dutch Spotted at £4500 was the ewe lamb, Diamond Emilia, from Emma Allen, Drumclamph, Castlederg. She is a daughter of Drumhirk Decider and out of the Challoch Bearskin sired-dam, Glencoy Chelsie – a full sister to the 5000gns Diamond Electro at the Springtime Sparkler sale. Emilia was knocked down to Messrs Kelly, Ballybofey, Donegal.

Another from the same home, Diamond Exotic, made £2900 when selling to Messrs Porter, Carrigans, Lifford, Donegal. This ewe lamb is another by the same sire, but out of the imported ewe, Bella II.

Bluefaced Leicesters sold to £3150 for a recipient ewe with twin ewe lambs from Graham and Julie Loughery, of the Temain flock, Derrydoo Road, Limavady. They are by the 10,000gns Temain Boss N2 sire of which a share was retained, while the dam, Rigside L3 is a former first prize winner at the Great Yorkshire Show, and by Midlock J032. This outfit sold across the water to Ayrshire with Jamie MacPherson, JM Livestock, Kirkmichael.

Messrs Wilkinson, Cookstown, Co Tyrone, went to £3000 for the lead Texel, a gimmer from Brian Hanthorn, Abbey Lodge, Tynan, Co Armagh. This Brackenridge Commander daughter, is out of a Garngour Upperclass sired-ewe.

Another Texel gimmer, this time from Andrew Kennedy, Maineview, Straid Road, Ballymena, attained £2800. A daughter of Deveronvale Aftershock, she sold to Messrs Linton, Ballymoney, Co Antrim.

Top price amongst the Charollais was £2300 paid for a daughter of the record breaking 7500gns Tullyear Uptown Lady, from Graham Foster of the Springhill flock, Omagh. This ewe lamb is by Logie Durno Van The Man, and sold down to Worcs with Messrs James, Tenbury Wells.
