The December 2019-born embryo, Lodge Puzzler is bred from a flush from the Loosebeare Fantastic daughter, Lodge Indie, and sired by Lodge Hydro, a Rossignol son. He sold carrying the F94L easy calving myostatin gene to Messrs Postlethwaite, Boot, Holmrook, Cumbria.

North Yorkshire producers, Messrs Mackley, Folkton, Scarborough, went to 6200gns for the 17-month-old, Sarkley Richmond, from Welsh breeders, EH Pennie and Son, Gwern Yr Ychain, Llandyssil. The breeding behind this transaction includes the well-known old AI sire, Broadmeadows Cannon, onto Sarkley Jalona, a Haltcliffe Doctor daughter.

Stephanie Dick’s Stephick herd from Westerton of Cowie, Stirling, also came up with the goods, selling Stephick Prestigious for 5400gns to Messrs Palmer, Flimby, Maryport, Cumbria. This 20-month-old entry is by the Ronick Gains son, Stephick Hero, and bred from the Haltcliffe Vermount-sired, Stephick Jassi.

Haltcliffe Pierre, a 26-month-old bull from Craig Ridley’s Haltcliffe herd from Hesket New Market, Wigton, realised 4500gns to Messrs Johnson, Shap, Penrith. He is by the 65,000gns Aultside Meanmachine and bred from the Haltcliffe Jaguar daughter, Haltcliffe Maid.

Just behind and leaving the ring with a 4200gns bid from Messrs Halton, Torver, Coniston, Cumbria, was Edenview PJ, consigned by John Watson, New Dorryfield, Roweltown, Carlisle. A Whinfellpark Lomu son, this October 2019-born entry is out of Blackmoss Monica, by Killcastle Galileo.

Messrs Knaggs and Son, Darlington, Co Durham, purchased the only two females to be sold at 2900gns and 2500gns.

Dearest was Eagleside Javine and her heifer calf from Thomas Illingworth, Howgillside, Eaglesfield, Lockerbie. The seven-year-old cow is a daughter of Goldies Comet, out of Brookmill Carrie and sold in calf to Wilodge LJ. The October-born heifer calf at foot, Eagleside Ravine, is by Carrickmore Maximus.
