Some 668 hoggs sold to average 255p with a top of £128 being achieved for a Beltex from A Wright, Traboyack and to 305.7p for Blackfaces from Pouton Farm Limited.

The 321 Blackface hoggs cashed in at 253.9p with prices peaking at £124 for a pen from K McWhirter and Son, Garvilland, whilst cast sheep rose to£162 for a Charollais tup from R and D Wilson, High Barness.

Amongst the ewes, Texel crosses sold to £148 from R Templeton and Co, Carslae.

Wooler

Harrison and Hetherington had forward 446 hoggs and 87 cast sheep, with Texels from Springhill and Seahouses leading the way at £130.

Centre records were smashed amongst the cast ewes with a Texel from IF Murray and Son, Shepherds Cottage soaring to £275.

Dumfries

Trade was a flier at C and D Auctions Marts's sale where prime cattle rose to £1737.50 and 274p from D and E Lockhart, Fauldingcleugh. Jardine, Yett, while OTM's sold to £1569.80 for a Simmental from East Lanegate or 216p for Aberdeen-Angus from Brickhouse.

Amongst the hoggs trade topped at £138 for Texels from 3 Broadlea Cottages and to 298p for more of the same from Shancastle, to 281.06p.

Cast ewe trade was a flier and peaked at £238 for Charollais from Loaningfoot, to average £142.46, whilst tups sold to £216 for Texels from Shangan, to cash in at £119.

Forfar

All sections of prime cattle sold well at Lawrie and Symington's weekly auction, with bullocks topping at 272p for a 632kg Limousin from Greenhead and to £1782.20 for a 670kg Limousin from Pityot, to average 269p.

Heifers attained 280p for a 582kg Limousin from West Bog and to £1743.70 for a 658kg similar animal from Greenhead, to level at 269p.

The sale of 472 hoggs was led by CL Wylie, Balbrydie Farm with a pair of 45kg Beltex making £149 and 331.1p, to balance out at 256.6p, while Beltex from Scobshaugh topped the cast ewes at £164.

Rams reached £140 for a Texel from Baldovie.

Huntly

United Auctions sold 1083 hoggs to reach a high price of 286p for 44kg Texel crosses from Mains of Blackford, Rothiemay and to £154 for 70kg Beltex crosses from Auchnarrow, Glenlivet, to balance out at 263p.

Cast ewes set the trade alight and a new market record of £295 for a Texel from Messrs Hunter, Wedderburn, with a Blackface hogg from the Smith family, Towiemore, Keith being kindly donated towards the disaster and emergency fund for the people of Ukraine, selling for £130 William Morison, Bogbain, Keith.

Stirling (Cale)

Caledonian Marts sold heifers to average 267p and sold to 318p on three occasions all for Limousins on two occasions from W Dandie and Sons, Learielaw and once from DS and RC Taylor, Easter Ochtermuthill and to £1936 for a Charolais from M Orr and Sons, Penston, Macmerry.

Limousins also led the bullock section at 310p from W Dandie and Sons, Learielaw, Broxburn and £1997 from Learielaw, Broxburn, to cash in at 256p, whilst bulls attained 248p and £1583 for a Charolais from DC Macvicar, Middle Ballat.

OTMs balanced out at 177p having sold to 227p for a Limousin from S Dick, Mains Of Throsk and to a new centre record of £2000 for a Limousin again from Mains of Throsk, whilst dairy types balanced out at 143p with prices peaking at 169p and £1250 from Drumglass, Croy.

The firm also held their sale of spring lambs to average 327p having achieved a top price of 340p or £160 from J Smith, Bankhead.

Hoggs levelled at 257p with an SQQ of 268p, with trade topping at 400p for a pair of Beltex from JM McDonald, Newbigging and to £160 on three occasions from DS and RDC Taylor, Easter Ochtermuthill, S and JE Andrew, Letter and JM McDonald, Newbigging.

A new centre record was achieved amongst the cast ewes at £288 for a Texel from JAC Stewart, Kinninmonth, Ceres, Fife, while tups sold to £226 for a Texel from S and JE Andrew, Letter, Loch of Lowes.

Stirling (UA)

Suffolks from West Teuchan led United Auctions sale of spring lambs at £155 and 329p, to level at 302.31p, whilst the 7190 hoggs balanced out at 262.15p having sold to £194 and 441p for Beltex from Cultburn.

Texels from Allanfauld led the cast ewe trade at £292, whilst more of the same topped the tups at £218 from Kinburn.

Thainstone

Aberdeen and Northern Marts sold 14 prime bullocks to average 244.9p having sold to 265pfor a 570kg British Blue from Whiteside, Tullynessle, and £1815.45 for a 735kg British Blue from Tillyorn, Corse, while the 37 heifers balanced out at 242.3p and peaked at 268p and £1728.60 for a 645kg Limousin from Stoneyhill, Keith-hall.

Some 4728 prime hoggs levelled at 249.4p with trade topping at 356p per kg for a pen of 42kg Beltex from Ranch House Cottage, Thainstone and £163.50 for a 74kg Charollais from Newton of Greeness, Turriff, while cast sheep sold to £259.50 for Texels from Inchbruich Farm, Cornhill, to average £130.50.

A pair of Suffolk lambs originating from Shetland raised £780 for the Ukrainian Appeal having sold to Gordon Kemp, Charlie Anderson and David Moir.

Longtown

C and D Auction Marts held their first sale of spring lambs which topped at 321p and £140 for Suffolks shown by I and J Barbour, Beechgrove, Annan.

The large show of 5336 prime hoggs were led by Beltex at 454p and 444p from CJ McWhirter, Banks Farm, Lockerbie, who also went on to top the price per head at £200 for more of the same, to level at 270.4p. The proceeds of these two hoggs have kindly been donated to the Ukrainian Disaster emergency committee by CJ McWhirter and were bought by West Scottish Lamb and Pickstock Foods respectively.

Cast ewes attained £285 for Texels from Viewley, while rams sold to £258 for more of the same from Seat Hill Ltd, Laversdale.

St Boswells

Harrison and Hetherington held their Easter show and sale of prime cattle, with bullocks and heifers levelled at 259p and 262p, respectively.

Bee Edge dominated the pre-sale show and heifer sections when standing champion with a 602kg Limousin cross which was knocked down at 310p and £1866.20.

The same home also stood reserve champion with another of the same making 298p in the ring.

Willowford led the bullocks at 280p and £1736.

Cast cows sold to £2515.16 and 277p from Inland Pasture, with cast bulls to £1763.66 from Roxburgh Mill or 165p from Middlestead.

Prime hoggs balanced out at 251p with trade reaching a top of £158 for Texels from Upper Bolton or to 359p for Beltex from Faughhill.

The sale of cast sheep witnessed trade level at £122.32 having peaked at £195 for a Texel ewe from Philiphaugh Estates, while tups sold to a height of £153 for a Teesdale from IMO Hunter, Braeside Cottage.

Lanark

Limousins led all cattle sections of Lawrie and Symington's weekly sale with heifers selling to 302p and £1898 from Messrs Dickinson, Brockwoodlees Farm, Canonbie, while bullocks attained 286p from Messrs Dickinson, Brockwoodlees, Canonbie or £1965 from Messrs Taylor, Heatheryhall, Biggar.

Beef cows sold to £1870 from Livesey Farming, Broomhill, Carnwath or to 235p from Messrs Barriw, Howburn Farm, Biggar, while dairy types achieved a top of £1365 and 165p for Holstein Friesians from Greentowers, Lanark.

A smalls election of stirks topped at £450 for a pair of Continental bullocks from Over Cairn, while beef full calves peaked at £395 for a British Blue from Longlea, with heifers selling to a top of £380 for a British Blue from Gartclush.

The firm of 3707 hoggs achieved £176 for a pen of Beltex from Anderson, Old Walls and to 400p for Beltex from the same home, to level at 261p.

Cast ewes sold to £286 for Texel from Leggate, Silverrigg and to £135 for Blackface from Spurway, Dykefoot.

Quoybrae

Some 291 prime hoggs were forward at Aberdeen and Northern Marts' monthly consignment, with trade averaging 240p having sold to 258.1p for 37kg Suffolks from Hoy Farm, Halkirk and £146.50 for Suffolks from East Murkle, Murkle.

Feeding sheep balanced out at £119.55 having peaked at £235 for a pair of Texels from Bardnaclavan, Bridge of Westfield.

Ayr

Craig Wilson Marts sold 2283 hoggs to balance out at 252.4p with a top price of £168 paid for a Texel off Collenan Farming Co Ltd and to 325.6p for a pen of Beltex from the Dale Family, Lindsayston.

The weekly consignment of Blackfaces cashed in at 258p with prices peaking at £119.50 for a pen of 26 off JH Sloan and Son, Dormieston or 280p for a pen of 47 off R and M Dunlop and Son, Pinvalley Farm.

The 364 cast sheep soared to £250 for Texels from H Wardrop, South Craigton with tups to £202 for Texels from A Hunter, Laigh Langcraig.

Amongst the prime cattle, heifers claimed the top price of the day at 297p and £1856.25 paid for a Limousin off North Boig, while bullocks peaked at 250p for a Shorthorn off Borland or £1368 for a Hereford off High Street, Kilbirnie.

Dingwall

A small show of prime cattle were on offer from Dingwall and Highland Marts, with bullocks averaging 253.8p and topping at 262p and £1847.10 for a 705kg Charolais cross from Shoreton Farms, Culbokie.

Heifers levelled at 253.9p and sold to 264p for a 545kg Limousin cross from Newcairn, Drumoak and 264p and £1874.40 for a 710kg Charolais cross from Shoreton Farms.

The firm also sold 1118 hoggs to cash in at 253.6p with prices soaring to 283.3p for a pen of 42kg Beltex crosses from Drakemires Farm, Newmill and £153 for an 82kg Bluefaced Leicester from Sonnenalm, Dufftown, while feeding sheep achieving a centre record and a British record of £312 for a Texel cross ewe from Wester Raddery, Fortrose.

Castle Douglas

On Tuesday, Wallets Marts sold 497 hoggs to average 257.95p having peaked at £140.50 for Texel from Messrs Brown, Little Culmain and 311.9p for Texel from Airyolland.

Some 159 cast sheep topped at £193 for a Texel ewe from Airds of Balcary with rams to £230 for Texel from Mossyard.
