Hoggs sold to £145 from SH Galloway, Barvernochan, whilst ewes peaked at £134 for Texel crosses from L Craig, Barlae.

Forfar

Lawrie and Symington's sale of bullocks sold to a top of 287p and £1544.06 for a 538kg Limousin from Balgay, to level at 247p.

Heifers cashed in at 275p with prices peaking at 287p on two occasions, firstly for a 548kg Limousin from West Bog and then for a 564kg Limousin from the Gask or to £1844.82 for a 666kg Angus from Balgay.

The 285 prime lambs was led by three Texels from A Strachan, Clochie which realised £161 and 350p per kg, to average 305p with an SQQ of 309p.

In the cast ewe ring, Texels from Ballintuim topped the trade at £118.

Wooler

A large entry of 1229 prime lambs, 46 hoggs and 428 cast sheep were forward for Harrison and Hetherington's weekly sale, with lambs reaching heights of £172 for Texels from Corneyside or to 397.6p for a pen of 42kg Beltex from A and D Proctor, Swarland Old Hall, to cash in at 311.4p.

Texels from The Hagg dominated the prime hogg sale at £157, whilst cast ewes sold to £175 for a Texel from JM Strother and Son, Fowberry Moor.

Rams attained £149 for a Texel from West Longridge.

Dumfries

All classes of cattle sold well at C and D Auction Marts' sale, with prices reaching 294p from J Jardine, Yett.

OTM's sold to average 186.4p with prices peaking at £1569.50 and 215p for a Limousin from Garloff.

The 343 prime lambs sold to average 313.8p with trade topping at £165 and 333p for Texels from Shambellie Grange.

Texels also led the 164 cast ewes with the sale reaching £230 from Glenhowan.

Huntly

United Auctions sold 404 prime lambs to average 299.8p per kg having peaked at 338p for for 42kg Beltex crosses from Redwood, Alford and to £170 for 53kg Texels from North Dorlaithers, Turriff.

The 152 hoggs balanced out at 185p and topped at 236p per kg for 52.8kg Texel crosses from Corse of Kinnoir, Huntly or to £140 for 72kg Suffolk crosses from Heads of Auchinderran, Keith.

A top price of £250 was paid on two occasions for pure Texels in the cast ewe ring from Messrs Innes, Dunscroft and then again from M Leggat, Cairnton farm, Huntly.

Stirling (Cale)

Trade was buoyant at Caledonian Marts' sale with heifers selling to 288p on two occasions for Limousins from Balquharrage, Lennoxtown and Riggs, Freuchie and to £1902 for a Limousin from Meadowend, Clackmannan.

Bullocks peaked at 288p for a Limousin from Balquharrage, Lennoxtown or to £1969 for a Limousin from Nethermyres, Auchtermuchty, while bulls reached 288p for a Limousin from Carriston, Star of Markinch and to £2030 for another of the same from Mains of Throsk, Throsk.

Limousins also led the beef OTMs which averaged 193p having peaked at 245p and £2100 for a six-year-old from Meadowend, while dairy types levelled at 157p with prices peaking at 184p and £1450 from Meikle Camoquhill, Balfron.

A Simmental led the cast males at 228p and £1690 from South Quarter, Kingsbarns.

The firm also sold prime lambs to average 328p with the sale topping at 378p for Beltex from WS Young, Mawcarse or to £167 for a Texel from HT Shanks, Easter Cash.

In conjunction with the prime sale was the Texel show and sale, where judge Dexter Logan, Alva awarded the championship to a pen of three 48kg entries from E Robertson, Skeoch that later realised £163.

Reserve champion came from RM and CM Squair, Lower Killernie with a pen of 42.3kg entries that sold for £154.

The 278 cast sheep peaked at £188 for Suffolk cross Mules from J Johnston, West Montgarswood.

Stirling (UA)

A large show of 2070 prime lambs were on offer at United Auctions with Texels from Cult and Beltex from Lintibert leading the trade at £171 and 346p, respectively, to average 309.26p.

Texels from Wester Rottearns led the 1446 cast ewes at £212, while tups sold to £180 for Texels from Dalchirla.

Thainstone

Aberdeen and Northern Marts' sale of bullocks averaged 241.3p having sold to 267p per kg for a 600kg Limousin from Whiteside, Tullynessle and £1732.50 for 750kg British Blue from Backhill, Kingswells.

Heifers levelled at 249.2p with trade topping at 269p per kg for a 630kg Limousin from Barnyards of Badenyoucher, Cornhill, and for a 620kg Limousin from Chapelford, Buckie, or to £1741.35 for a 705kg Aberdeen-Angus from Barnyards, Mintlaw Station.

The small show of 25 young bulls reached 271p for a 780kg Limousin from Newtack, Crossroads, Grange and £2614.50 for a 1245kg Charolais from Kinclune, Glenkindie, to cash in at 226.4p.

In the cast ring, the beef finished cows averaged £1633.83 having sold to £2390 for a 980kg Charolais from Middle Drimmie, Rattray, while beef feeding cows balanced out at £1208.65 and topped at £1610 for a 692kg Limousin from Buchaam Farm, Strathdon.

The 696 prime lambs levelled at 307.5p with prices reaching 409.1p and £180 for 44kg Texel crosses from Ard Na Moy, Glassel, while the 190 prime hoggs attained 256.5p and £195 for 76kg Blue Texels from Broadwater, Skene, to average 219.7p.

Some 900 feeding sheep cashed in at £111.46 and sold to £248 for pure Texels from Kingswells Croft, Oyne.

Darlington

Trade was a flier at Darlington Farmers Auction Mart's weekly sale, where the 68 prime bulls were led at £2357 and 276p for a British Blue from MI Wainwright, Todhall Farm.

Amongst the prime cattle, heifers levelled at 265p, reaching £1840 for a Limousin from WA Armstrong, Coxhoe or 316p for another of the same from TN and J Hall, Ainstable Hall, while steers achieved 287p from I Marshall, Bishop Middleham or to £1800 for Limousins from RS Hall.

The 1946 lambs balanced out at 313p and trade was topped at 367p for three Continental lambs from Alan Binks, Walworth or £162 for more of the same from Richard Bailes, Cole Hill Farm, Elwick.

Some 223 hoggs sold to 300p from FM Martindale, Wolsingham or £161 for a Texel from C Harle and Sons, Brandon.

Cast ewes attained £158 for a Texel from JC Simpson, Caldwell.

Longtown

A large show of 1484 prime lambs were forward at C and D Auction Marts with prices peaking at 374p for Beltex from M and M Byrne, Thornthwaite Close, Wigton or to £176 for Suffolks from GT Beattie, Guardsmill, Gretna, to level at 315.9p .

The 580 hoggs achieved heights of 294p for Beltex from JW Robb, Beech Hill, Lockerbie or £159 for Beltex from Messrs McNabney, Barsalloch, Wigtown, to average of 221.2p with an SQQ of 219.9p.

Some 3067 cast ewes and rams witnessed prices top at £242 for Texels from Messrs Hewson, Burgh Head, Burgh by Sands, with rams to £235 for Texels from Seaview.

St Boswells

Harrison and Hetherington sold bullocks and heifers to cash in at 272.31p and 272.71p, respectively.

Elwick and Greenknowe led the bullock trade at £1955.84 and 286p, whilst heifers sold to £1937.32 from Whitrighill and 304p from Bee Edge.

In the cast ring, Stuartslaw topped at £2297.10 or to 269p from Greenknowe, to level at 204p, whilst bulls attained £2425.50 from Middlethird or 177p from Thirlestane and Wolfstar.

The 1427 prime lambs averaged 315p having sold to £190 for Texels from Holylee or to 355.6p for Beltex from Craiglea.

The sale of cast sheep topped at £195 for a Texel tup from JC and JS Helm, Haltree, while ewes sold to £168 for four Texels from James Anderson and Son, Headshaw, Lauder.

Penrith

On Monday, Penrith and District Farmers’ Mart held their fortnightly sale of prime cattle with the sale topping at 264.5p and £1938.79 for a Limousin cross heifer from D Raine, Old Parks, whilst dairy-bred British Blue heifers peaked at £1504.09 and 225.5p from S Wood, Arnold House, Ivegill.

The 76 OTM's achieved a top of 248.5p for a 13-year-old 767kg British Blue cross Limousin cow from G and JE Bell, Far Broom or to £1920.72 for a 10-year-old Limousin cross British Blue from JW and M Buckle, Bleathgill.

Cast bulls reached heights of £2453.40 and 211.5p for an eight-year-old British Blue from J and JM Dixon and Son, Berrier Head Farm.

Lanark

Limousins led Lawrie and Symington's sale of 13 heifers which realised 300p and £1949.40 from Messrs Dickinson, Brockwoodlees, whilst the six bullocks sold to 279p from Messrs Cook, Kinneil Mill or to £1768.80 from Messrs Dickinson, Brockwoodlees.

Beef cows attained £1790 from J Warnock and Sons, Dreva or to 225.7p from R and M Struthers, Collielaw Farm, Kilncadzow, while dairy types sold to £1635 and 188.4p from Greentowers Farm.

A large show of 1506 lambs topped at £177 for Texels from Toy, Westwoodlane or to 347p for Beltex from Bunting, Bridgestone, to average 321.9p with an SQQ of 323p.

The 1182 hoggs witnessed trade top at £166 for Texels from Templeton, Bank and to 276p for Texels from Greyside, to level at 235p with an SQQ of 238p.

Texels led the cast ewes at £250 from Gibb, Rusha, with rams to £206 for more of the same from Whitelee Gate.

Carlisle

A small show of 58 prime cattle were on offer at Harrison and Hetherington, with steer selling to £2031 for a Limousin from Hundith House or 274.5p for more of the same from Kirkland Guards.

Limousins also led the heifers which peaked at £1840 from Hill House Farm or 277.5p from High Plasket Lands.

The 355 cast cattle witnessed a Blonde from Mirlaw House lead the cows at £2246 or 264.5p for a British Blue from Colstons, while the bulls sold to 213.5p for an Aberdeen-Angus from Greenview.

A larger entry of 1568 prime sheep were forward, with lambs averaging 332p and selling to £186 for a Texel from WL Musgrave and Son, Cardew Hall, Dalston or 425p for a Texel cross from The Guards.

A Bluefaced Leicester topped the cast ewes at £170 from Pears Gill.

Ayr

Craig Wilson Marts sold 1783 prime lambs to average 320.9p with the sale hitting a top of £174 for a pen of Texels off Ian C Gilmour and Sons, Humeston and to 346.5p for a pen of Beltex crosses from I Lambie, Longhouse.

The 422 cast sheep attained £250 for a Texel off Laigh Alticane, while rams peaked at £172 for a Charolais from Lyonston.

The firm also sold 15 heifers to average 275.8p with top price of the day being 293p and £1728.70 for a Limousin from The Smith Family, North Boig.

In the cast ring, 81 beef cows peaked at £2000 for a Charolais off Baryerrock or 232.5p for a Limousin off Lyonston, while five bulls sold to £1800 for an Aberdeen-Angus off Overton or 220.3p for a Limousin from High Borland.

Dingwall

A busy ringside of bidders were present at Dingwall and Highland Marts' primestock sale, where bullocks averaged 251.4p per kg having sold to 258p for a 575kg Limousin cross from Bridgend Farm, Dingwall and £1517.25 for a 595kg Limousin cross also from Bridgend Farm.

Prime heifers levelled at 250.8p and peaked at 279p for a 530kg Limousin cross from Balnageith, Forres or to £1663.70 for a 655kg Limousin cross from Bridgend Farm, Dingwall.

The 149 new season lambs topped at 305.7p for a pair of 44kg Texel crosses from Milldam, Meikle Ussie and £150 for a 75kg Zwartble from Drum Temple Croft, Gorthleck, to cash in at 287.9p, while the hoggs averaged 194.6p and sold to 221p and £137 for a 62kg Bleu De Maine from Tighnahinch, Alcaig.

The 260 cast sheep attained £252 for a Texel ewe from Wester Moy, Urray.

Castle Douglas

On Tuesday, Wallets Marts had forward 1137 prime lambs to average 329.05p with trade peaking at £167.50 for Texels from Douganhill Farms or to 378.5 for Beltex from Messrs Nicolson, Bombie.

Cast sheep topped at £244 for Texel ewes from Messrs Lockhart, Lagganpark.
