The consignment of 25 British Friesians from JH Capstick, Lockholme Hall, Ravenstonedale, averaged £1689.58, staged at Penrith and District Farmers' Mart.

The sale topped at £2500 on two occasions, firstly for a freshly calved third calver, and again for a red cow, which calved early October. The pair both sold to I and ME Askew, Raw Head, New Hutton.

A star of the sale was a 15-year-old cow, due to calve to the Limousin, which attained £1550 when the hammer fell to A and B Edmondson, Penruddock.

Dairy heifers – £2500, £2300, £2100, £2000, £1600, £1500, £1350.

Dairy cows – £2500, £2400, £2050, £1850, £1750, £1700, £1600, £1550 (x2), £1300 (x6).
