Some 1484 prime lambs sold to average 252p with the sale topping at £147 and 253.4p for Blue Texels from J Russell and Son, Crouse.

The 332 Blackface lambs levelled at 243.1p and peaked at £116 for entries from J and W Wilson, Kirkmabreck and to 251.3p from Lagafater Farms, Barnvannoch.

Cast sheep attained £141 for a Bluefaced Leicester tup from A and W Barrowman, Mid Knockglass, whilst Baltier Farming Co led the ewes with a pen of Texel crosses making £140.

Cockermouth

Mitchells Livestock Centre held their weekly sale of primestock where bulls were led by a British Blue at 238p from South View or to £1460.91 for a Limousin from Row Hall.

A large entry of cast cows peaked at 239p for a British Blue cow from S Hardisty and Son, How Hall, Ennerdale and to £1731.32 for another of the same from DA Harrison, Solway House, Wigton.

Black and whites enjoyed a fast trade selling to 184p or £1597.12 for a Holstein Friesian cow from Bowness Farms, Threapland Lees, Aspatria.

The 2147 lambs peaked at £178 and 342.30p for Beltex lambs shown by TA Jefferson, Aspatria Hall, Wigton, with cast ewes to a top of £172 for Texels from CP Nixon, Seafield House.

Penrith

Last week, Penrith and District Farmers’ Mart LLP sold 3197 prime lambs and 2487 cast ewes and rams, where trade amongst the lambs cashed in at 275p with prices peaking at 356p for a single Beltex lamb from Messrs Gardner, Glebelands or to £163 for a single 59kg Texel lamb from Stewart Lane.

The sale of cast ewes topped at £280 for a Texel ewe from J Bland, Clea Hall, with rams to £170 twice, firstly for Texels from Greenacres and secondly Texels from IS and CA Harrington, Salkeld Road.

Darlington

A busy ringside of bidders were present for the sale of 2197 prime sheep at Darlington Farmers' Auction Mart, where trade levelled at 262p with the sale topping at 314p from TH Richardson and Son or £166 from W Tomlinson.

A charitable donation was made during the sale where a prime lamb and a geld ram from the Smith Family of West Shields Farm, Satley, Tow Law sold to £950 and £400, respectively, in aid for Cancer Research UK.

William Tindale, Shadforth topped the cast ewes with a Texel making £225.

Forfar

A small show of 498 prime lambs forward at Lawrie and Symington's sale topped at £141 or 293.8p for a 48kg Texel from West Bogton.

Top price amongst the cast ewes was £150 for a Texel from JM Orr, Wardmill Farm, Forfar.

Stirling (Cale)

Caledonian Marts had forward 72 OTM cattle at their weekly sale where trade balanced out at 176p with prices peaking at 224p or £2150 for a Limousin from GR Aitken, Trapran, Haddington.

The 1739 prime lambs averaged 257.05p with the sale topping at 333p and £150 for a pair of Beltex from DS and RC Taylor, Easter Ochtermuthill, Muthill.

A large show of 613 cast ewes averaged £82 with the sale witnessing a top of £191 for Texels from A and C Hamilton, Birch, Scone.

Stirling (UA)

Texels and Beltex from Millhouse and Easter Balgillo led United Auctions' sale of 6427 prime lambs, selling to £150 and 313p respectively, with trade levelling at 248.60p.

Texels from Nethermill topped the 1888 cast ewes at £230, with rams to £170 for more of the same from Kinclaven.

Thainstone

Trade was buoyant at Aberdeen and Northern Marts' sale of cast cows, where beef finished cows averaged £1491.33 having sold to £1770 for a 846kg Simmental cross from Braeside Farms.

Beef feeding cows levelled at £1196.95 and peaked at £1650 for a 812kg Salers cross from Braeside, leochel-Cushnie.

The firm also sold 1473 lambs which averaged 242p and topped at 267.1p per kg for 38kg Beltex from Honeyneuk, Maud and £140 for 66kg Texels from 76 Logie Drive, Crimond.

Feeding ewes averaged £96.55 and sold to £181.50 for Continentals from Logie Durno, Pitcaple.

Longtown

C and D Auction Marts had forward 5902 prime lambs where prices peaked at 329p for Millenium Blues from M and J Kennedy, Lurgan, Perth or to £170 for Texels from WN Douglas, Catslackburn, Yarrow, to level at 261.8p with an SQQ of 266.1p.

A smaller show of 4066 cast sheep where Texels led the ewes at £295 from T Hill and R Wright, Mill Farm, Doncaster, while rams sold to £205 for Texels from S and R Irving, The Height, Caldbeck.

Lanark

Trade remained firm on the week at Lawrie and Symington's sale of 4707 prime lambs where the sale topped at £161 for Texels from Messrs Allison, Muirburn and to 328p for a pen of Texels from Messrs Harrower, Craigievern, to balance out at 253p.

The 2644 cast sheep peaked at £238 for Texels from J Dunlop, An-Glasach and to £79 for Blackfaces from Barrie Farmers, Howburn.

Castle Douglas

Wallets Marts sold 1731 prime lambs to average 254.81p with top being £143.50 paid for Texels from Messrs McWhirter, Kenmure and to 316.3 for Beltex from Gelston Castle Farms.

The 220 cast sheep attained £143 for Texel ewes from RKG Farms Irelandton, with rams to £191 for a Texel from Dornells Estate.

Kirkby Stephen

Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of prime sheep, where the 4013 prime lambs reached heights of £166 for a pen of six 43kg Beltex crosses from Jojo Andrews, Boscar Flats, York.

The same home also topped the per kg section at 400p for a pen of eight 41kg Beltex crosses, to cash in at 258.8p.

Messrs Lee, Carkin Moor Farm kindly donated a lamb to be sold in aid of the British Heart Foundation which went on to sell for £1000 to Yorkshire Halal Meats, Ossett.

Cast ewes sold to £149 for a Texel from Prospect Farm Cottage, whilst rams attained £144 for a Bluefaced Leicester from Claylands Farm.

Hawes

Continental lambs proved popular at Hawes Farmers Marts' primestock sale, where the 1716 lambs sold to 305p for Beltex from R Mudd and Sons, Cubeck or to £136 for Texel crosses from SM Ireton, to average 284p.

Charollais led the cast ewes at £188 from JK Foster, Garriston.
