Blackface hoggs cashed in at 278.58p with prices peaking at £143 or 311p for a pen from Lagafater Farms, Barnvannoch.

Texel crosses led the cast sheep at £168 from JR Howie, Auchentibbert, with tups to £148 for Suffolks from R Rankin, Whitecairn.

Forfar

A good show of prime cattle were on offer at Lawrie and Symington, where bullocks sold to a top of 302p and £2016 for a 640kg home-bred Limousin from Barns of Airlie, to average 300p per kg.

Heifers attained 328p for a 574kg Limousin from West Bog or £2088 for a 696kg British Blue from Pityot, to cash in at 309p.

The 236 hoggs reached £158 for a pair of 52kg Beltex consigned by T and J Clark and Sons, Wellhead Farm, or to 325p for a pair of 44kg Cheviots from the same home.

A small show of 47 cast sheep attained £161 for a Texel ewe from I Bain, Beech Croft, with rams to £147 for a Blue Texel from John Caldwell (Farmers), Grange of Conon Farm.

Wooler

Harrison and Hetherington sold 352 hoggs to top at £174 for Beltex from FS Vickers and Son, South Rennington.

The sale of cast sheep peaked at £247 for a Texel from RD Rennie and Son, Sydenham Farm.

Stirling (Cale)

At Caledonian Marts' sale heifers averaged 314p having sold to 362p for a British Blue from MI Wainwright, Todhall, Cupar and to £2324 for a Limousin from Ross Brothers, Wardhead, Strichen.

Prime bullocks averaged 289p and attained 345p for a Limousin from A A and J Brand, Nethermyres, Auchtermuchty or £2283 for a Limousin from Ross Brothers, Wardhead, Strichen, whilst bulls reached 272p and £1812 for an Aberdeen Angus cross from WA Hume, Easter Clune.

The 48 OTM's peaked at 305p for a British Blue from JR Wainwright, Todhall and to £2040 for a Limousin from W Dick and Son, Mains of Throsk, to average 213p.

The firm also sold spring lambs to balance out at 315p having peaked at 350p for a Suffolk from J Wilson, Balhelvie, Newburgh, with hoggs to 379p for Texels from JM McDonald, Newbigging, Crieff and £172 for a Beltex from Bankhead Farming, Crook of Devon.

Cast sheep sold to £221 for a Texel from PG Perring and Son, Hoprig, Cockburnspath.

Stirling (UA)

United Auctions sold 5607 prime hoggs to level at 303.43p, with Beltex making £191 and 445p from Easter Ochtermuthill.

The 22 new season lambs cashed in at 292.99p with prices peaking at £156 and 315p for Texels from Smailholm.

The 770 cast sheep witnessed Beltex from Newton of Collessie lead the charge at £200, with more of the same topping the tups at £188 from Powblack.

Darlington

Trade remained firm at Darlington Farmers Auction Mart’s weekly sale, where 45 bulls were topped at £2824 for a 821kg British Blonde from JJ Horn, Bushy Park, Marske or to 350p for a 767kg Limousin from TA Horn, Lower Griseburn, Appleby-in-Westmorland.

Heifers and steers levelled at 291p and 280p, respectively, with steers reaching 328p and £2378 for a Limousin from I Marshall and Sons, Hope House, Bishop Middleham.

The same home led the per kg section of heifer sale at 350p for more Limousins, with per head reaching £2624 for another of the same from JL Marks, Gilly Flatts, Bishopton.

Some 33 spring lambs levelled out at £135 with top price going to Texels from East Mellwaters Farm at 340p and WA Wardman Ltd who attained £170.

The 1010 hoggs balanced out at 287p having been topped at at 400p and £176 for Beltex from CA and JG Skidmore of Needless Hall Farm, Toronto.

Cast ewes attained £300 for a Texel ewe from PR and V Barlow and Son.

Thainstone

Limousin crosses led Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ bullock section at 327p for a 640kg entry from Barnyards, Delgaty and £2375.10 for an 870kg Charolais cross from Daies, Wardhouse, to level at 283.2p.

Heifers averaged 293.4p having sold to 323p for a 630kg Limousin cross from Mill of Newton, Insch and £2124.30 for a 730kg Charolais cross from Hillocks, Whiterashes.

Beef finished cows averaged £1814.12 and attained £2570 for a 852kg Limousin cross from Auchmaliddie Mains, Maud, whilst beef feeding cows sold to £1890 for a 722kg Lincoln Red cross from Hillside Farm, Dufftown.

The 3897 hoggs balanced out at 287.8p and reached 339.8p for 44kg Beltex from Muirton, Corse and £175 for 67kg Texels from Oldtown Farm, Peterculter.

Feeding sheep sold to £217 for Beltex from Broadwater, Skene.

Longtown

At C and D Auction Marts' sale of 4012 prime hoggs topped at £200 for Beltex from CJ Roots, Kilnford Croft, Dumfries or 352p for more of the same from J Anderson and Partners, Rowanburnfoot, Canonbie, to level at 290.8p with an SQQ of 296.5p.

A smaller show of 2206 cast ewes and rams witnessed Texels lead the ewes at £250 from DJ Wilson, Jubilee Farm, North Yorkshire with hill types to £114 for Blackfaces from GM and C Walton, Allensgreen, Bardon Mill.

Rams sold to £200 for Charollais from AC Clark, Fineview, Glenluce.

St Boswells

Harrison and Hetherington's sale of prime cattle saw bullocks and heifers cash in at 298p and 303p, respectively.

Bullocks sold to £2237.40 and 330p from Learielaw, whilst heifers attained £2183.76 from West Garleton and 332p from Bee Edge.

Cast cows reached £2533.40 from Thorneydykes or to 287p from Headshaw, to level at 230p.

Charollais led the new season lambs at £160 and 310.6p from Ladyflat, to average 290p, with hoggs to £175 and 317.3p for Suffolks and Texels from Boghall to balance out at 280p.

Cast sheep peaked at £180 for a Texel tup from CJ Young, Hawksnest.

Lanark

Limousins led Lawrie and Symington's sale with heifers to 346p twice from Messrs Dickinson, Brockwoodlees Farm, Canonbie, whilst bullocks attained 328p from Messrs Warnock, Hill Farm Strathaven or to £2145 from Messrs Warnock, Hill Farm Strathaven to W Pinkerton, Helensburgh.

Beef cows sold to £2100 from Huntlyhill Farm, Lanark or to 280p from Messrs Scott, Gateside Farm, Linlithgow.

On Monday, a smaller show of 2463 prime hoggs topped at £178 for Texels from Messrs Gibson, Cowgrove and to 375p for Beltex from Messrs Clark, Wellheads, to level at 287p with an SQQ of 294p.

The 725 cast ewes and rams saw trade reach £266 for Texels from Messrs Pate, Toxside and to £107 for Blackfaced from Drife, Netherhill.

Carlisle

Trade soared at Harrison and Hetherington's sale with bullocks topping at £2435.90 and 329.50p for a 753kg Limousin cross from Messrs Nicholson, The Lake, Carlisle.

Top price amongst the heifers was £2193.33 and 330.5p paid for a 678kg entry from Messrs Studholme, Nealhouses, Carlisle.

Spring lambs sold to average 409p where Messrs Musgrave, Cardew Hall, Dalston sold six Beltex to a top of £220 and 526.8p, to level at 509p.

The hogg trade reached £210 for Beltex from Osborne Farm, Wigton or to 473.2p for a pen of eight Beltex from Michael Pickworth, Dotland Park.

Cull ewes attained £185 for a Beltex cross from R and JP Mulholland, Great Orton.

Ayr

Craig Wilson Marts’ sold 1545 hoggs to average £130.40 with top price of the day being £179 or 388p for a pen of four Beltex off M Stevenson, Balcaimie.

The 305 cast sheep were led by Texel tups at £180 from Messrs Stevenson, Drumsuie, with ewes to £166 for Texel crosses from J and A Seaton, Rushaw.

On Tuesday, prime steers peaked at 345p for a 640kg Limousin cross from Chris and David Smith, North Boig , whilst heifers attained 332p for a Limousin cross from John and David Andrew, Rowanston.

Young bulls sold to 278p for a Limousin from J Gibb, Giffordland.

Dingwall

Dingwall and Highland Marts’ sale saw bullocks average 298.4p having sold to 307p and £2041.55 for a 665kg Limousin cross from Shoreton Farms, Culbokie.

Heifers balanced out at 298.1p with prices peaking at 309p for a 595kg Charollais cross from Easter Sheeppark, Balblair and £1985.60 for a 680kg Charollais cross from Shoreton Farms, Culbokie.

The firm also sold 949 prime hoggs which reached 305p per kg for a pen of 46.5kg Texel crosses from Easter Sheeppark, Balblair and £156 for a 64kg Texel cross from 5c Balnabeen, Conon Bridge, to balance out at 275.3p.

Feeding sheep sold to £135 for a Texel cross ewe from 9a Loaneckheim, Kiltarlity.

Kirkby Stephen

Harrison and Hetherington's sale of 2692 prime hoggs witnessed hoggs reach a top price of £218 and 531.7p for a pen of eight 41kg Beltex from Jojo Andrews, Boscar Flats, York, to level at 368.94p.

Cast sheep peaked at £180 for a Charollais ram from Messrs Storey, New Hummberbecks Farm, West Auckland, with ewes to £175 for a Blue Texel from Messrs Jackson, Powis House, Long Marton.

Castle Douglas

The 474 prime hoggs sold at Wallets Marts cashed in at 259.09p with an SQQ of 262.85p.

Top was £148.50 for Texels from Messrs Grierson, Dunmuir Road and to 316p for Beltex from Glenkiln Farms.

Cast sheep peaked at £216 for a Texel tup from Messrs Milligan, High Glasnick, with ewes to £172 for Texels from the same home.

Wigton

A nice show of prime cattle were sold at Hope Auctioneers where heifers sold to a top of 329.5p for a 20-month-old Limousin from JG and M Little, Greenhill Farm or to £2300.42 for a 753kg Limousin from J Dixon and Sons Ltd, Lesson Hall.

A smaller show of hoggs reached £200 for a 49kg Beltex from J Dixon and Sons Ltd or to 426.7p for a single Blue Texel from Messrs Fell, Stanger Hill, to balance out at 329.62p.

The 96 spring lambs attained £184 and 466p for a pair of 39.5kg Beltex from Adam Bell, Thethwaite Farm.

Cast sheep rose to a top of £200 for a Texel ewe from J Dixon and Sons Ltd, with tups to £138 for a Texel from Messrs Paterson, Thistle Bottom.
