Bullocks (1098) and heifers (1075) cashed in at 302.06p per kg and 284.25p respectively at United Auctions' weekly sale.

Cattle from Upper Inchwood, were in demand with bullocks reaching 379.6p per kg for Limousin crosses and British Blue crosses, whilst a Limousin cross heifer attained 389.7p.

Other bullocks achieved £1880 on two occasions, firstly for a 596kg Aberdeen-Angus cross from Easter Littleward, and again for a 622kg Aberdeen-Angus cross from Meikle Carleith.

Heifers reached £1930 for a 654kg Aberdeen-Angus cross from Easter Littleward.

North Leoch House, led the young bulls with a Limousin cross making 292.1p and £1700, whilst a Simmental cross also achieved £1700, to cash in at 262.74p.

Also forward were 490 store and breeding sheep which sold to £184 per life for a Lleyn ewe with twin Suffolk lambs from Roughlands.

Store hoggs peaked at £106 for continentals from Redheugh.

On Monday, the firm also sold 188 breeding cattle which met a fierce trade, having reached £5800 for a Limousin cross heifer with a bull calf at foot from West Thomaston, the same home also led the heifer with heifer calf at foot at £5200.

West Thomaston was also in the money with their cows and bull calves with a Limousin cross outfit which achieved £3500, and also receiving that price tag was a similar outfit from Mill of Inverarity.

Bulling heifers achieved £3650 for two pure Simmentals and one Simmental cross from J and E Dyet, East Merkland.

A joint top price of £1980 was achieved at Harrison and Hetherington's weekly sale of 700 store cattle, firstly for a Limousin cross steer from Messrs Slack, Newby, Carlisle, and again for a Bazadaise cross from Messrs Batey, High Knells, Carlisle.

Heifers soared to £1950 for Limousin crosses from Messrs Slack, Newby.

A strong trade for a good number of weaned cattle sold to £1860 for Limousin bulls from Messrs Graham, Hetherside.

The same breed also led the bullock trade at £1350 from Messrs Routledge, Netherton, whilst British Blue heifers peaked at £1310 from Messrs Kirkby, Ashley Grove.

The weekly sale of calves reached £620 on two occasions, firstly for a Limousin bull from Messrs Fox, Windy Hill, and again for British Blue bulls from Messrs Wadsworth, Big Balcraig.

Messrs Wadsworth, also sold the lead price heifer at £555 for more British Blues.

On Monday, a larger show of 490 outfits were presented with a similar trade to last week, topping the sale at £141 per life was two Texel hoggs with Beltex lambs at foot from NJ and JM Todhunter, Wigton.

Texel ewes soared to £108 from G Mundell, Victoria House, with gimmers reaching £132 for Beltex crosses with single lambs again from NJ and JM Todhunter.

Bullocks secured the top prices at Craig Wilson's sale of 461 store cattle, with a Limousin from Ladyyard, making £1810, and a Charolais from High Woodston, realising 346.1p per kg, having averaged 293.4p.

Limousins led the heifers at £1690 for Broadlie, and to 333.3p for Fleminghill, to cash in at 278.4p.

Feeding hoggs achieved an average of £105.82, having reached £114 for a pen of 40 Texel crosses from A and C Kerr, Ballikillet.

The ewe and lamb section cashed in at £75.66, with Texel cross ewes with single Texel lambs from D Crosbie, Chapelton, leading the trade at £115.

On Tuesday, the firm sold three dairy cattle to a top of £2200 for a Holstein Friesian heifer from J Cousar, Grange of Cree.

A strong show of 149 calves and stirks soared to £1500 for a pair of Limousin cross bullock stirks from Messrs Sutherland, Rosemount.

Calves peaked at £640 for a Charolais cross bull off Kaimhill Farming, whilst heifer made £560 for a British Blue cross from Messrs Smith, Haysmuir.

Also forward were 98 breeding cattle which achieved a 100% clearance rate, along with a top call of 4600gns for a Limousin bull from South Walton.

Among the outfits, it was a Limousin cow with a heifer calf at foot that led proceedings at £2400 for High Woodston.

Heifers averaged 293.7p and sold to 374.1p for a pair of 266kg British Blue crosses from Achnahannet, Dulnain Bridge, and to £2040 for a 678kg Limousin cross from Corse of Kinnoir, Huntly.

Bulls (22) sold to 307.3p for a 358kg Charolais cross from Redland, Firth, and to £1295 for a pen of four 512kg Simmental crosses from Wairds Farm, Downies.

A small offering of ewes with lambs at foot were in very good demand 145 outfits averaging £68 per head and sold to £98 per head for a Beltex ewe with a single from Mains of Allanbuie, Keith.

Breeding sheep (83) averaged £171.30 and sold to £180 for Texel cross ewes from Delnabo, Glengairn.

Leading the island consigned store lambs at £138 was Suffolk from Seaview, Sanday, which balanced out at £77.08, whilst store lambs averaged £75.98 and reached £128 for Texels from Netherton, Largie.

Calves sold to a far sharper trade with all a top call of £610 for a pair of British Blue bullocks from Woodhouse, with another similar duo in the form of bulls from the Grange, made £600.

Heifers balanced out at 300p, having attained 356.9p for a 339kg Charolais cross from Bardnaclavan, Bridge of Westfield, and to £1590 for a 542kg for Simmental from Hunster, Bower.

Ewes with lambs at foot (85) reached £92 for life for Cheviot ewes with Hill Cheviot lambs at foot from Auckhorn, Lyth.
