The 399 hoggs levelled at 280.11p and were topped at £177 by a Texel from I and A Fisher, Spittal or 333p for a trio of Beltex from S and A McCaig, Mount Pleasant.

Cast sheep reached £160 for a Bluefaced Leicester ewe from J Cannon, Clauchrie.

Huntly

United Auctions sold 33 lambs to average 329p having sold to 354p for 46kg Charollais from Ternemny, Knock and to £170 for 63kg Suffolks from Dunscroft, Huntly and for 53kg Texels from Meikle Begshill, Drumblade.

The 1249 hoggs cashed in at 275p, with prices peaking at 330p for 44kg continentals from Croftgibb, Grange and to £166 for 75kg Texels from Scarhill, Knowehead, while cast ewes sold to £258 for a Texel from Woodside, Newmill.

Dumfries

Among the OTM cattle at C and D Auction Marts’ sale a Limousin led the way at £2009.70 for Maryfield or to 253p for a Flekvieh from the Slacks, to level at 206.1p.

Hoggs reached £174 for Beltex from Drumcork or to 331p for Texels from Upper Portrack.

Beltex from Drumcork topped the cast ewes at £158, with tups to £218 for Texels from Bettyknowes.

Stirling (UA)

Some 267 new season lambs at United Auctions’ sale levelled at 335.4p with prices peaking at £180 for Texels from Penston and 402p for more of the same from Nether Pratis.

The 4475 hoggs cashed in at 282.9p having attained £178 for Texels from Kinclaven and 393p for Beltex from Luckenburn.

Beltex from Balmacolly led the ewes at £210.

Stirling (Cale)

Caledonian Marts’ sale of heifers averaged 305p having sold to 338p and £2118 for a Limousin from Monzie Farms, Crieff.

Bullocks reached 330p for a Limousin from AA and J Brand, Nethermyres, or £2200 for a Limousin from J and N Kerr, Bankhead, Aberdour, to level at 301p.

The 47 OTMs peaked at 255p and £2080 for a Limousin from W Dandie and Son, Learielaw, to average 199p.

Some 51 prime lambs averaged 334p with trade topping at 378p and £185 for Texels from AP Johnston, Blindburn, Sorn, whilst hoggs levelled at 271p having reached 387p or £178 for a Beltex from G and J Davie, Harviesmailing.

Cast ewes peaked at £203 for a Texel ewe from J and J Kinloch, Walton, Cardross.

Thainstone

Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ sale of bullocks averaged 280.2p having sold to 325p on three occasions – for a 520kg Limousin from Whiteside, Tullynessle, and twice for Limousin crosses from Chapelpark, Methlick or to £2536.50 for a 950kg Limousin cross from Auquhirie, Stonehaven.

Heifers peaked at 334p for a 645kg Limousin cross from Glasslaw, Dunnottar and £2256.30 for a 690kg Limousin cross from the same home, to cash in at 299.4p.

Finished beef cows averaged £1923.79 having sold to £2420 for a 992kg Limousin cross from 122 Main Street, Aberchirder.

The 79 lambs averaged 335.4p having reached 413p and £190 for 46kg Suffolks from Milltown of Birness, Ellon, whilst 2677 hoggs averaged 288.6p peaking at 346.4p for 42kg continentals from North Fornet, South Auchronie or £197.50 for 66kg Texel crosses from Newton of Greeness, Turriff.

Feeding sheep (644) sold to £220 for a pure Texel from Rowanhill, Kininmonth.

Longtown

Prime lambs reached a top of 371p per kg at C and D Auction Marts’ sale for Texels from R Johnston, Kimmeter Green, Annan or to £170 for Suffolks from H Martindale, The Land, Ecclefechan.

The 3017 hoggs sold to 390p for Beltex from High House or £200 per head for Texels from CD Scott, Falla, Jedburgh, to level at 283.4p.

The 2931 cast sheep were topped by Texel ewes at £295 from J and C Hastings, Kopje, Dumfries, with rams to £205 for Charollais from Beckfoot.

St Boswells

Harrison and Hetherington’s sale of bullocks and heifers cashed in at 302p and 310p, respectively.

Bee Edge and Learielaw led the bullocks at £2217.60 and 328p, whilst heifers sold to £2052.60 from Penston and 338p from Learielaw.

Texels and Beltex from Ballencrieff and Lochside led the new season lambs at £192 and 429.5p, respectively, to cash in at 353.8p.

Hoggs balanced out at 282p with prices peaking at £186 for Texels from Waterside and 348.8p for Beltex from Huntington, whilst ewes reached £230 for a Beltex from Huntington Partnership, Huntington.

Lanark

Limousins led Lawrie and Symington’s sale, where heifers sold to 350p from Messrs Dickinson, Brockwoodlees, or to £2171 from Messrs Warnock, Hill Farm.

Bullocks attained 320p and £2067 from Messrs Cunningham, Walkerdyke.

The first show of spring lambs was topped at £175 and 386p for Texels from Messrs Wilkins, Wester Whitecastle, to average 329p.

Some 2195 hoggs peaked at £195 for Texels from Messrs Kennedy, Mitchellhill and to 359p for Beltex from Messrs Gray, Eastfield, to balance out at 272p, whilst the 736 cast sheep attained a top of £254 for Texels from Messrs Morrison, Dalwyne.

Ayr

Craig Wilson Marts’ sale of 129 spring lambs cashed in at 341p with top prices of £172 for a pair of Suffolks from Messrs Hunter, Laigh Langcraig or 371p for a pair of Texels from Messrs Gault, Crookside.

The 939 hoggs averaged 275p having sold to £170 for Texels from Gavin Barr, East Moorhouse to 337p for six Texels from CA Smith, North Boig.

The 332 cast sheep peaked at £180 for Texel ewes from R Buchanan, Laigh Kilphin and J Forsyth, Lochlands.

On Tuesday, prime heifers reached 337p and £1937.75 for a Limousin from North Boig, with bullocks to 336p and £2049.60 for a Limousin from the same home.

Dingwall

Bullocks levelling at 292.2p having sold to 307p and £1967 for a 650kg Limousin cross from Ashley, North Kessock at Dingwall and Highland Marts sale.

Heifers reached 325p and £2161.25 for a 665kg Charolais cross from Bridgend, Dingwall, to average 304.4p.

The 632 hoggs cashed in at 261.5p selling to 301p for 43kg Beltex crosses from Upperton, Balnain and £146 for a 59kg Texel cross from Shewglie Farmers, Glenurquhart.

Feeding sheep sold to £184 for a Texel cross ewe from Upper Blairnain, Aberlour.

Castle Douglas

Wallets Marts’ sale of lambs attained £151.50 for Texels from Messrs Brough, Cotland and 348.4p from Messrs Watson, High Borgue.

The 464 hoggs averaged 273.63p having sold to £165 for Texels from Messrs Brown, Drumcoltran and 318.9p per kg for Texels from Messrs Murdoch, Fauld O’Wheat.

Some 268 cast sheep forward reached a top price of £272 for Texel ewes from Messrs Black, Hillside.
