Paul and Janet Bolland, and son, James, made it a hat-trick at Skipton Auction Mart’s fortnightly dairy sale, when securing their third successive championship as they continue to disperse their herd from Dykelands Farm, Airton.

The supreme, selected by judge, Ian Briggs, Hawksworth, was a 52kg fifth calver which later realised £1680 when selling to Colin Whitelock, Gargrave.

The four cows on offer from the Bollands, averaged £1800, with their reserve winner, a 35kg second calver by Vortex Lexxi Foxx, attracting the joint top price of £2250, heading to Tong with Mark and Karen Goodall, West Yorkshire.

Matching that £2250 sale was another of the Bolland’s fresh heifers, a Pine Tree London late June calver that sold to Longridge with Alf Townsend.

The same home also produced the first and second prize in milk heifers which made £2150 and £2080 respectively.

Sammie Sugden, Laycock, sold her best for £2200. This 29kg Melary Fuel daughter, bred by Johnathan Sharp in his Tewitthall herd, is backed by generations of Ex-classified dams and sold to Alan and Emily Middleton, Beamsley.

The summer rearing calf show, saw a British Blue cross heifer take the championship for Matt Dinsdale, Rainhall Farm, Barnoldswick, which went on to sell for the joint top price of £500 to show judge, Jack Foster, Wigglesworth.

Also making £500 was the first prize British Blue cross bull from Robert and Ellie Crisp.
