Limousins led all sections at Lawrie and Symington's primestock sale, with heifers selling to 342p per kg for Messrs Dickinson, Brockwoodlees, Canonbie, and to £2184 from Messrs Wainwright, Todhall, Cupar.

Bullocks peaked at 328p for Messrs Gray, Balquharrace, Lennoxtown, and to £1878 for Messrs Cunningham, Walkerdyke, Strathhaven.

On the sheep front, 3252 lambs cashed in at 255p per kg having sold to 329p for a Beltex from Messrs Hammond, Auchenbart, Darvel, and to £168 for Texel from Messrs Clark, North Garngour, Lesmahagow.

Cast ewes reached £200 for Texels from Messrs Minto, Townhead, Dolphinton with rams peaking at £140 for more of the same breed from Yeldabrek.

Thainstone

Bullocks and heifers averaged 257.3p per kg and 272.3p respectively at Aberdeen and Northern Marts' sale.

Bullocks soared to 331p and £2101.85 for a 653kg Charolais cross from Auchmaliddie Mains, Maud, with the same home leading the heifer trade at 331p and £2035.65 for a 651kg British Blue cross.

A 740kg Charolais from Cotton of Ovenstone, Kirkbuddo, led the young bulls at 277p and £2049.18, having levelled out at 236.3p.

Among the 2176 sheep, lambs (1076) averaged 233p per kg, having received a top price of 320.5p for Beltex crosses from Home Farm of Auchry, Cuminestown, and to£142 for Charollais from Clackriach, Maud.

Feeding ewes and rams (1100) balanced out at £82.25 and sold to £269.50 for a pen of Texel ewes from Skelbister, Orphir, with a Suffolk leading the rams for Corrybrae, Kildrummy at £169.50.

Ayr

An average of 253.6p per kg was achieved for the lambs at Craig Wilson's weekly prime sale.

A pen of Texels led the trade at £148 for John C Smith and Co, Laigh Borland, with a pair of Beltex making 310p for I Lammie, Longhouse.

Texel ewes topped the cast sale at £160 for C Smith, Ballochneil Cottage whilst the tups peaked at £158 for Charollais from Q Limond, Barskelly.

St Boswells

Bullocks sold to 320p per kg and £2104.32 from Learielaw and Dunslaw respectively at Harrison and Hetherington's weekly prime cattle sale, with 36 cashing in at 290p.

Heifers (55) averaged 293p and soared to 332p from Whitrighill, and to £2028.60 for Penston.

Cast cows levelled at 222p having attained 270p for Marigold, and to £2093.06 for Kersknowe.

Texels led the way among the prime lambs when selling to 304.2p for Huntington, and to £149 from Fountainhall, to balance out at 255p.

Cast sheep sold to £139 for a Suffolk ewe from Yett, having averaged £84.77.

Stirling (UA)

Some 7181 sheep were forward for United Auctions this week, with lambs (4606) averaging 247.53p per kg.

Beltex led the way, selling to £158 for Lochelbank and Clochie, who also sold more of the same for 359p.

Cast sheep peaked at £192 for a Texel ewe from Shields, and to £202 for a ram of the same breed from Wester Bleaton.

Longtown

Beltex from M and M Byrne, Thornthwaite Close, Wigton, secured the lead price prime lamb of 355p per kg at C and D Auction Marts' sale.

Among the per head a top price of £140 was achieved on two occasions, firstly for Beltex from WC and E Bell and Son, Low Houses, Low Row, and again for Dutch Spotted lambs from S Herraty, Low Ranachan, Argyll.

Cast ewes peaked at £250 for Texels from J Dixon and Son, Lesson Hall, Wigton and WS Robson and Co, Yatesfield, Otterburn, whilst rams sold to £200 for a Texel from Messrs Bell, High House, Brampton.

Huntly

United Auctions had 1270 prime lambs forward this week which balanced out at 238p per kg.

A 43.5kg Texel from Redwood, Alford, achieved 289p, whilst a 59kg Blue Texel from West Cairnhill, Culsalmond, realised £141.

Cast ewes sold to £270 for a Texel from Inchbruich, Cornhill, whilst rams peaked at £136 for a Suffolk from Edinglassie.

Newton Stewart

Some 1250 lambs forward at Craig Wilson's sale cashed in at 251.74p per kg.

Beltex led proceedings at 279p for HS MacTier, Boghouse, which Charollais realised £146 for JG McMillan and Co, Over Airies.

Cast sheep sold to £116 for Cheviot tups from Quarter Farmers, Quarter, with Roussin cross ewes attaining £116 for J McHarrie, Duchra.
