Baltier Farming Company, Newton Stewart, Wigtownshire, purchased the top two priced lots at the Border and Lakeland Club sale of pedigree Holsteins at Carlisle.

Topping the sale at 3500gns was Berryholme Chief Flo from the Wright family, Berry Holme, Helsington, Kendal. A Stantons Chief daughter, she is bred from the Ex90 classified dam, Berryholme Amor Flo.

The second to head home in the same trailer was Espland Fitz Flo from DI and AA Cannon, Espland Hill, Brampton, Appleby In Westmorland, at 3300gns. She is the result of the sire, Toc-Farm Fitz onto the VG86 classified dam, Wormanby Crushtime Flo, which had sold in the Wormanby Youngstock Sale for 4600gns.

On the same money was Stowbeck Dumbledore Pansy from Skirwith Hall Farms Ltd, Skirwith Hall, Skirwith, Penrith, Cumbria. This heifer stood second in the junior heifer class in the pre-sale show, being sired by Progenesis Dumbledore and out of Stowbeck Pepper Pansy. The final bidders here were Messrs Talbot and Co, Preston, Lancs.

The Caldwell family, Maybole, Ayrshire, went to 3100gns for Wyevalley Haniko Papoose from James Gray, Drumtall, East Kilbride, Glasgow. This youngster is bred from the VG87 classified dam, Wyevalley Battle Papoose, having been sired by Siemers Lambda Haniko.

Stardale Redcarpet Jodie 2 was next in the money at 3100gns for J Burrow and son, Tunsteads Farm, Brass Pan Lane, Broughton, Preston. Messrs Roper and Son, Preston, Lancashire, got for their money a Westcoast Redcarpet sired-heifer out of Stardale Rager Jodie, which is VG85 classified.

Messrs Howie, Kirkcolm, Stranraer, gave 3100gns for Wormanby Pepper Judy 3 from Wormanby Farms Ltd, Wormanby Farm, Burgh by Sands, Carlisle. A daughter of Delaberge Pepper she is bred from Wormanby Lambda Judy 2.
