Averages improved on the year at United Auctions' Lochboisdale centre, when bullocks and heifers cashed in at 303.23p per kg (+42.29p) and 289.15p (+49.69p) respectively.

Limousin cross bullocks led proceedings having sold to £1800 for a pair from AJ Morrison, 10 Eoligarry, Barra, and to 336p for one from J Maccormick, 11 Ormiclate, Lochboisdale.

Heifers sold to £1480 for Aberdeen Angus crosses from J Macdonald, Dunskellar House, Sollas and to 325p for a Blonde D’Aquitaine from Messrs Macsween, 6 Dunganichy.

Also forward were 131 sheep of all classes selling to a top of £130 for a four shear Blackface ram from A Maceachan, 15 Aird, Benbecula.

Hoggs reached £84 from J R Macintyre, 325 North Boisdale.
