A 90% clearance rate was achieved among the Limousins at Stirling Bull Sales, with 47 bulls selling to average £7466, up £777 on the year.

A joint price of 17,000gns was firstly paid for the May 2022 born bull, Anside Typhoon from the Irvine family, Braehead, Keith.

Second in the pre-sale show this one is a son of Anside Prometheus, and out of the heifer, Anside Peony. The hammer fell to Margaret and John Pennie, Shannas, Mintlaw, Peterhead.

Dyke Limousins were certainly in the money for Donald MacGregor, Dyke, Milton of Campsie, when selling two bulls at 17,000gns and 16,000gns.

Leading the way was the May 2022 born bull, Dyke Toyboy, which stood fourth in the pre-sale show, before finding a new home with Clark Farms, Hangram Lane, Rinninglow, Sheffield. He is sired by Goldies Lordoftherings, which was bought here for 12,000gns and out of Dyke Glam.

The overall reserve and intermediate champion, Dyke Topman took the latter price when the hammer fell to Malcolm Coubrough, Hartside, Lamington, Biggar. By the same sire this one is bred from Dyke Nicola, which goes back to Trueman Idol.

Last in the ring met no disappointment for the Adam family, Newhouse of Glamis, Glamis, Forfar, when their August 2022 born bull made 10,000gns. Gordon and Andrew Beattie, Tullywhanland, Aberlemno, Forfar, got for their money a second prized bull sired by Newhouse OverFinlarg and out of Newhouse Lyn.

Two bulls then made 9000gns, first to do so was Spittalton Tigger from Andrew Burnett, Upper Spittalton. This 23-month-old bull is a son of the 40,000gns Ampertaine Opportunity, and bred from Spittalton Olary. He now heads to the Isle of Tiree with IA Mackinnon, Parkhouse.

Matching that price was the pre-sale champion, Elrick Trooper from Mike and Lisa Massie, Ellon.

Their May 2022-born son of Whinfellpark Nobu, is out of, Elrick Image, a Wilodge Fastrac daughter, and sold to Orkney with Liam Muir, Upper Onston.
