A Charolais cross bullock from Rosie Hamilton, Bee Edge, secured the top price of £2070 at a YFC overwintering cattle competition at St Boswells.

The pre-sale champion, a Charolais cross bullock from Robert Coney, Glenogle, achieved the top pence per kg of 404.8p when selling for £1700.

The judge, Mr Wight, Whitrighill, found his runner up in a Limousin cross heifer from Zoe Hall, which later realised £1560.

Bullocks and heifers averaged 323 per kg and 318.3p respectively.
