On Monday, 4524 breeding sheep forward for United Auctions' sale at Stirling, sold to a top of £240 for Suffolk ewe hoggs from Claish Farms.

Scotch Mule ewe hoggs sold to £222 per head on two occasions – for a pen of 30 from Burncastle Farming and a pen of 20 from Tollishill, to cash in at £184.50, up £16.64 on the year.

Averages increased in all ewe hoggs sections with Texels at £200.00 (+£24.36); Blackface £147.25 (+£2.67); Cheviot Mules £159.07 (+0.66) and Suffolks cashed in at £215.86.

The show and sale of dry Mule ewe hoggs judged by JR Nairn, Merry Hill, saw a pen from Tollishill Farming, secure the championship and sell for £222.00.

Blackface judge, Hugh Rorison, Clonrae, awarded the first prize ticket to W Graham and Son, Craigdarroch, for a pen that later realised £198.00.

Ewes with lambs at foot sold to £130 for Cheviot Mule ewes with Texel cross lambs from Strewiebank.
