The first dairy young stock sale to be held at Borderway proved a huge success, with 406 in calf, bulling and heifers calves selling to a top of £2450.

Hitting that top bracket was an in-calf Holstein heifer from Alan Reid, Dockenflat, Lockerbie, purchased by Bluestone Farming, Chirnside, Duns. Sired by SMJ Applejax, and bred from Denovo Imagine, she is due in July to Mecca.

Dockenflat sold 30 heifers to average £2170 and also received £2400 for an OCD Marvel daughter that sold to Messrs Forrest, Annan. Sired by Parkhurst Samaritan, she is due in July to T 3Star Zazzle Monk.

Another three heifers from the same home reached £2350 when all selling to Bluestone Farming.

Bulling heifers reached £1600 for Winton Sidekick Ghost from Peter Waring, Field House, Beverley, East Yorkshire. A Walnutlawn Sidekick daughter, she is out of Winton Dempsey Ghost 3 VG89 and sold to Messrs Forsyth, Whithorn.

The same buyers then went to £1300 for Winton Chief Tippy, a Stantons Chief daughter bred from Whinchat Eudon Tippy VG86.

Belaw Rager Cloda led the yearling heifers at £1300 for Belaw Farming, West Rounton, North Allerton. Sired by Cherry-Lily Zip Luster, she is out of Belaw Goodwhone Carmen Ex90 and headed home with BF Farm, Longtown.

In-calf Irish Friesians hit a top of £1250 for Cumrue Farming Partners, Dumfries when due in June to an Angus sire.
