Bullocks (185) and heifers (248) averaged 300.35p per kg and 285.98p respectively at United Auctions' store cattle sale.

Bullocks sold to 368.20p for a 296kg Charolais cross from Blairoer, and to £1610 for a 558kg Aberdeen Angus cross from Towncroft.

A 484kg Limousin cross from Nether Dalkeith, led the heifers at 328.50p, whilst a 536kg Limousin cross made £1630 for Nether Dalkeith.

The firm also sold 642 store sheep and breeding sheep, which topped at £150 for Texel store hoggs from West Mains.

Breeding sheep peaked at £116 for Texel/Cheviot gimmers with Texel lambs from Bordlands.

On Monday, the firm also had forward 307 breeding sheep at their second special sale of hoggs and ewes with lambs at foot, which reached £130 for Lleyn ewes with Beltex lambs from Bordland.

A reduction in numbers forward witnessed a top call of £1820 achieved on two occasions at Harrison and Hetherington's store cattle sale, firstly for a British Blue cross from Messrs Bunting, Mid Town Farm, Dumfries, and again for a Montbelairde from Messrs Magnay, Greenwrae, Gretna.

Heifers sold to £1700 on two occasions, for a Limousin cross and an Aberdeen Angus cross from Messrs Metcalfe, Littlewater, Penrith, and Messrs Cairns, Windy Nook, Carlisle, respectively.

The weekly sale of weaned cattle reached £1750 and £1700 for Charolais bulls from Messrs Stott, Shaw Head.

Saler bullocks made £1340 for Messrs Strick, Overby House, whilst a Limousin cross heifer from Messrs Livingstone, Far Hill , realised £1310.

A Charolais bull calf from Messrs Connell, East Drummodie, led the calves at £710, whilst heifers peaked at £650 for British Blues from Messrs Caddy, The Crescent.

On Tuesday, Craig Wilson sold 139 calves and stirks to a top of £1310 for a Charolais cross bullock from Messrs McIlwrick, Balmurrie, with the same breed topping the heifers at £1200 for Messrs Hamilton, West Clerkland.

British Blue crosses from A and E Parker, Merkland, led the calves at £740 and £700 for bulls and heifers respectively.

The firm also sold 173 breeding cattle, which a Limousin bull attained 5800gns for South Walton, the same home topped the heifers and calves at £4300 for a Limousin with bull calf.
