An entry of 2824 store hoggs and 185 breeding sheep were forward at C and D Auctions weekly sale. Ewes and lambs sold to £175 per life for a Texel cross with a single lamb at foot from WN and JC Gilhespy, Tedcastle Farm. Store hoggs peaked at £245 for a Texel tup from S Kewley, Boulaine Farm, Isle of Man.

More than 1100 head of store cattle, young bulls and young and weaned calves sold to a high of 592.6p per kg for a pair of 216kg Charolais cross bullocks from Pitmain, or £2800 for an 816kg Simmental cross from Bogs of Paithnick, Crossroads, at Aberdeen and Northern Marts' weekly sale.

Heifers peaked at 525.7p for a pair of 350kg Simmental crosses and £2720 for a Simmental from Crossburn, Keith.

Overall, 548 bullocks averaged 432.7p, with 374 heifers at 428.8p.

The 74 Aberdeen-Angus bullocks levelled at 418.8p selling to 494p for seven 334kg entries from Tulchan, Advie and £2410 for five weighing 630kg from Corsehill, Bucksburn. Heifers of the same cross (66) averaged 395.9p and sold to 445.2p seven 292kg entries Tulchan and £2320 for a pair of 664kg heifers from Cowford, Blairs.

Bulls (39) sold to 479.8p per kg for a 248kg Limousin from Upper Forgie, Keith and £2400 gross for a 742kg Charolais from Burnside of Whitefield, Forglen.

On Tuesday, store hoggs sold at record levels and to a high of £208 for Texels from Speylea, The Quarters, while Island consigned old season lambs reached £195 for Texel s from Messrs Eunson, Halley Farm, Deerness.

The sale of 2804 store and breeding sheep which including Island consignments, saw 79 breeding sheep sell to £290 for in-lamb Texel gimmers from Brechins, South Ronaldsay

Store hoggs (1846) averaged £138.54 with those from the islands (879) cashing in at £121.25.

A 708kg Limousin cross from Messrs Noble, Lochurd, topped the bullocks at £2470, with a 288kg Beef Shorthorn cross from Messrs Orr and Sons, Bangour, attracting the lead price per kg of 520.8p.

Heifers peaked at £2680 for a 548kg British Blue from Messrs Russell, Cobblehaugh or to 493p for a 284kg Limousin cross from Messrs Orr, Dykehead.

Messrs Crawford and Sons, Mansfield Mains, led the breeding cattle with a Limousin cross heifer with British Blue cross calf at foot selling for £2380.
