In the show arena, it was Shaun Sowray, Sowray Bros, Bowes Green Farm, Bishop Thornton, who added to the dairy farming family’s multiple past successes when crowned both champion and the reserve with a brace of first prize winners, the former a British Blue-x heifer, the latter another Charolais bull.
Both were tapped out by Beverley show judge Malcolm Bayes, both making £920, the adjudicator claiming his chosen victor, the reserve to Nick Brown and family, Claughton, Lancaster. The Sowrays were also responsible for the £710 top price Limousin bull calf.
