A three-month-old Holstein heifer calf topped the Highhopes and Halcyon dispersal sale staged on behalf of Richard and Clair Barber, when selling at 10,000gns.
The on-farm sale at Manor House, Preston, was led by Highhopes Phoenix Cosmo, an April-born heifer by T-Spruce Phoenix from the Larcrest Cosmopolitan family.
This chart-topping genomic calf was bought by the Cogent stud for its breeding programme based in Chester.

Calved heifers peaked at 4000gns for Highhopes Heatwave Glenda, which sold one week fresh to Messrs McErlean, Ayrshire. She traces back to Eastland Holsteins in Holland with her seventh dam being the VG86 10* brood cow, Eastland Glenda.
Her four-month-old Anahita-sired heifer calf sold for 1100gns to Messrs Davies, Holywell, Flintshire.
Highhopes Lambda Glenda, a Farnear Delta-Lambda daughter classified VG88, topped the milking cows at 3500gns. Calved again in March, she was purchased by the Mawson family for the Baileyground herd in Cumbria. Her four-month-old, high-type Anahita heifer calf made 2200gns to the McMiken family at Castle Douglas.
In-calf heifers peaked at 3800gns for a Thorson daughter out of a VG87 Captain, due to Hi-Pace in October and bought by the Errolston Holstein herd near Gretna. Her February-born ET heifer by Ripcord made 4300gns, selling to Thomasson Farms, Cheshire.
