Milking heifers reached 4000gns at Doug and Katherine Leadbetter’s dispersal of the Breachgorse Holstein herd from Burrowland, Kilwinning.
The sale, staged at Borderway Mart, Carlisle, was topped by the two-year-old Breachgorse Robin Amy, which calved in July and is giving 41kg. Sired by Koepon Robin Red and bred from a Delta Fidelity dam that has produced in excess of 50 tonnes of milk, she sold to Messrs Owen, Wrexham.
Second top price was 3800gns paid for the Costeau daughter, Breachgorse Costeau Sweetpea, which was knocked down to Cote Farm Partnership, Lancashire.

Three lots sold for 3600gns, including Breachgorse Lambda Sweetpea, a second calver, by Deltra Lambda, purchased by Peter Waring.
Another daughter of Costeau, Breachgorse Costeau Modesty, which calved late June and is giving 41kg, made the same money selling to Messrs Green, Northwich, while her six-week-old heifer calf by Raiton was knocked down at 900gns.
Also at 3600gns was the second calver Breachgorse Pikachu Agnes, bought by Messrs Dixon, Cumbria. Sired by Gen Pikachu, she classified VG86 as a milking heifer.
In-calf heifers also met a strong trade with two due in November selling at 2600gns. Sired by Lucius and Raiton respectively, both carried female pregnancies by Aurora Tubman.
Bulling and yearling heifers were topped at 2000gns on two occasions. The first to sell at that money was Breachgorse Donte Sweetpea, a daughter of the top priced cow.
