Some 520 head forward for Harrison and Hetherington’s weekly store cattle sale was topped at £2590 by an 18-month-old Limousin bullock from Messrs Lockhart, Fauldingcleugh.

Heifers peaked at £2500 for a Limousin from Messrs Betts, Bridge Farm.

A Limousin bull led the calf trade at £1260 from Messrs Morris, Greengatehouse Farm whilst stirks sold to £2010 for a Limousin bullock from Messrs Watson, Parceltown.

Bullocks and heifers averaged 382p and 384p per kg respectively at United Auctions’ sale of store cattle.

Bullocks reached 466p for a 290kg Simmental from Easter Coxton, Llanbryde and £1980 for a 500kg Charolais from Fordmouth, Tomintoul.

The same home topped the heifers at 468p with a 385kg Charolais and at £1900 for a 485kg Charolais.

Bullocks sold to £2500 or 504p for a 496kg Limousin cross from A Baillie, Broomfield Lodge, purchased to T and J Clark, Wellhead Farm. The proceeds from the sale are being donated to Leukaemia Research in memory of Elizabeth Hamilton.

Heifers reached £2290 for a 648kg Limousin cross from JA and JHW Smith, Westpark Farm and 476p for a 479kg Limousin from Broomfield Lodge.

Calves sold to £1300 for a weaned Charolais cross bull from Messrs Grey, Scrogton Farm with those on milk peaking at £940 for a Limousin cross heifer from Messrs Steel, Cumberhead Farm.

Tuesday’s sale of 513 spring-born calves through Dingwall and Highland Marts saw store bullocks and heifers average 406.3p and 370.8p per kg respectively.

Bullocks sold to 500p for a 270kg Limousin cross from Balmaglaster, Spean Bridge and to £1920 for a 510kg Beef Shorthorn cross from 9A Blaich, Fort.

Heifers levelled at 370.8p and peaked at 487p for a 487kg Limousin cross from Balmaglaster and at £2100 for a 625kg Aberdeen Angus cross from Mungosdail, Drimin.

Weaned bullocks and heifers averaged 522p and 457p respectively with bullocks reaching 667p for a 180kg Limousin cross from 2 and 3 Kinloid and £1700 for a 395kg Limousin cross from Balmaglaster. Weaned heifers sold to 587p for a 225kg Charolais cross from Dunlochity, Farr and £1569 for a 360kg Charolais cross from the same home.
