The complete dispersal sale of the Meadowrig Limousin herd from Anthony Renton, Stuartslaw, Duns, met a high demand when being staged the night before the breed sale.

The sales leader at 13,000gns was the the five-year-old cow, Meadowrig Oopsadaisy, which sold to Messrs Murphy, Brookebrough, Co Fermanagh. A daughter of Loosebeare Fantastic, she is out of Meadowrig Eva, which goes back to Broadmeadow Luigi. She sold scanned in calf to Homebyres Macadoo along with her March-born bull calf at foot, Meadowrig Upstart, which is sired by Macadoo.

Another cow and calf outfit then realised 12,500gns when the hammer fell to Mary Cormack, Chepstow, Monmouthshire. This similarly aged cow, Meadowrig Octavia is a daughter of Kaprico Germander and bred from Brockhurst Fidget, which is a daughter of Wilodge Cerberus. She also sold scanned in calf to Macadoo, with her April-born heifer calf, Meadowrig Una, being sired by Ronick Roulette.

The March-born heifer calf, Meadowrig Upsadaisy then achieved 10,000gns. Her dam is the 19,000gns Foxhillfarm Primadonna, herself the reserve champion at the 2021 Great Yorkshire show, and is sired by Mereside Lorenzo. She sold with her recipient dam to Messrs Lewis, Sandbach, Cheshire.

On the same money was the 2021-born heifer, Meadowrig Sahara, a daughter of the 30,000gns Gunnerfleet Mongo, and bred from Meadowrig Eva, which goes back to Broadmeadows Luigi. The final bidders were Messrs Perkins, Terry Hill, Radstock, Avon.

The dispersal sale kicked off with a bang when the first lot made 7200gns. This was for the 2012-born cow, Meadowrig Holly, and her bull calf, Meadowrig Tyrion, which sold up to Scotland with Messrs Gilchrist, Dunbar, East Lothian. Holly is a result of the sire, Wilodge Cerberus, onto the dam, Meadowrig Erla, whilst Tyrion is a son of Homebyres Macadoo.
