Entries are officially open for the National Commercial Cattle Show (NCCS), taking place as part of the NBA Beef Expo on Saturday, 30 May 2026, at Melton Mowbray Market.
Organised by the National Beef Association (NBA), the NCCS remains one of the highlights of the annual Beef Expo, showcasing some of the finest commercial cattle from across the UK. The competition features ten classes for steers and heifers and culminates in the prestigious Supreme Championship.
This year marks a new chapter for the show as it moves to Melton Mowbray, home to the UK’s largest town-centre livestock mart. The central location is expected to encourage strong participation from producers nationwide. Entries must be submitted online, and with capacity limited to 120 head, a waiting list will be introduced once the entry cap is reached.

Julie Sedgewick, organiser of the NCCS on behalf of the NBA, said:
“We are delighted to bring this event to Melton Mowbray Auction Mart. The National Commercial Cattle Show consistently attracts some of the UK’s best commercial cattle, and with the venue’s central location, we hope to see exhibitors from every corner of the country. With numbers capped, we expect a strong response well before the closing date on 27 April 2026.”
Judging this year’s show will be two highly regarded Welsh cattle producers. Glyn Howatson of Denbigh, North Wales, will oversee the native and continental classes, as well as the Supreme Championship, while Tracey Jones of Erwood, near Builth Wells, will judge the Baby Beef and Young Handlers classes.
The Young Handlers competition, open to participants aged 14–21, continues to be a valued part of the livestock section, offering aspiring cattle producers the chance to demonstrate their skills and passion in the show ring.
This year’s show schedule includes ten classes for steers and heifers by native and continental sires, dedicated British Blue and Limousin classes, Baby Beef classes for cattle aged 12 months and under, and the Young Handler class. Each class winner will receive a rosette, with an additional special award for the Best Exhibitor-bred animal.
