A Limousin heifer from the Laird family, Sunnyside, topped Lawrie and Symington’s Spring Show and Sale at Lanark, realising £3100. Weighing 400kg, she also led the price per kg at 775p, selling to Messrs Laird, Yeldabrek, who went on to purchase the second top-priced animal at £2950. This was a British Blue bullock from the same home, scaling 426kg and achieving 692.5p.
The show champion was a 504kg British Blue bullock from Midlock Farms, which sold to Messrs Kittson for £2260. The reserve champion, a 410kg Limousin cross heifer from Messrs Hamilton, Tippethill, made £2540 when sold to Messrs Armstrong, Dunsyre Mains.
The highest-placed Charolais-sired entry, a third prize Continental heifer from Messrs Stewart, Crookboat, sold for £2360.
Dairy bullocks topped at £2000 for a pen of ten 582kg British Friesians from Messrs McPherson of Tanhill,
