Limousin bulls sold to a high of 12,000gns at the North East Club show and sale at Darlington, where five bulls attracted prices of 10,000gns or more
Trade was strong throughout, with 30 of the 32 bulls forward finding buyers. The sale also included a multi-breed section and the reduction of the Castlethorpe herd, which peaked at 4600gns.
Leading the trade was Barrons Apollo, a January 2025-born bull from Willy Baron, Burnhope. By Cornsay Thunder and out of Barrons Sunset, he was purchased by WT Elstob and Son, Stockton.
Next at 11,500gns was Fieldson Vanilla from Michael Fieldson, Lincolnshire. The November 2024-born Glenrock Redemption son, out of Fieldson Smoothie, carries F94L and Q204X genes and sold to JC Thwaite and Sons of the Craghill herd, Barnard Castle.
Three bulls shared a 10,000gns price tag. First was Brontemoor Vane from JM and SM Priestley, Brampton. This Knock Msport-sired entry is out of a home-bred dam, and headed home with GN Potts and Son, Newcastle.
The champion, Lissett Vision from the Tennant family, Bridlington, sold for the same money. Vision is by Hamac, out of Barrons Mylassy and carries two copies of the F94L myostatin. He was secured by DW Humphrey, Redcar.
The last of the 10,000gns bids was given for Eastshaw Vanra from A and JA Iveson, Hawes. Vanra is by Eastshaw Ivantastic, out of Eastshaw Rachel, and sold to RO Gilson, Byers Green.
Two bulls made 8500gns to include Jorica Volcano, a Glenrock Topgun son from Josh Knaggs, Darlington, purchased by TR Craven, York.
Matching that 8500gns bid was Everpark Viper, a Goldies Nelson son from J and T Waring, Everingham, which sold to Messrs Trotter, Kelso.

Michael Fieldson was back in the money amongst the females, selling the lead priced lot, Fieldson Vixen for 6200gns. A Glenrock Redemption daughter, in calf to Fieldson Universe, she sold to JR and G Walton, Barnard Castle.
The Castlethorpe reduction from Jonathan and Suzanne Stacey, Hampshire, saw 22 cows and calves average £6065; 11, 2024-born heifers level at £4161, and 19, 2025-born heifers at £2745. They sold to 7200gns for the three-year-old Castlethorpe Unique, with her heifer calf Castlethorpe Berry, by Dyfri Shogun at foot. Unique is by Frogmore Royalty and out of Castlethorpe Roux. They sold to Alastair Brice, Suffolk. Castlethorpe Vion, another by Dyfri Shogun made 4600gns to AK Belfield, Derbyshire.
British Blue heifers sold to 4200gns twice from D Alderson, and two Beef Shorthorn cows and calves from Upsall Castle Farms reached 2500gns each.
Averages: Limousin – 32 bulls, £6985.65; 50 heifers, £3285.45; 22 cows with calves, £6065.85.
