Newton Stewart

Craig Wilson sold 263 lambs to average 422.8p per kg having sold to a top of 450p for Suffolks from Messrs Airyhassen.

Top price per head was £225 paid for Texels from Low Mains.

Hoggs reached £180 for Texels from Mains of Airies who also topped the ewes at £190 for Texels.

Dumfries

Some 288 new season lambs forward at C and D Auctions’ sale saw an average of 437.2p per kg, 440.5p SQQ.

Texels from Copewood Farm, Copewood led the sale at 468p whilst price per head was topped by the same from Messrs Henderson, Kirkbride at £208.

Hoggs sold to £194 for Texels from Messrs Weir, Dressertland.

Texel ewes realised the top price of £242 from Messrs Kennedy, North Cowshaw.

Thainstone

Aberdeen and Northern Marts sold 35 cast cows selling to £2890 for a Limousin from West Knock Farms, Mintlaw.

Heifers sold to a top of 361p per kg for a Simmental Cross or £2359 for a Charolais cross from Braeside.

Bullocks were topped at 364p for a Limousin cross and £2489.30 for a British Blue cross from Bogfur.

New season lambs averaged 445.3p having sold to 454.7p or £204 for Texels from Messrs Connage, Thistleyhillock and Kininmonth.

Hoggs (188) averaged 321.2p and sold to 403.5p for Cheviots from Upper Weetingshill, Maud and £215.50 for continentals from North Canterbury, Cornhill, Upper Weetingshill.

Feeding ewes and rams (117) averaged £143.59 and sold to £224.50 for Suffolk ewes from Claybraes, South Ronaldsay, with rams to £199.50 for a Texel cross from Messrs Braeside.

Stirling (UA)

United Auctions sold 1808 lambs to average 429.21p per kg with 378 old season types levelling at 286.5p.

Lambs sold to £246 for Suffolks and 489p for Beltex both from Easter Ochtermuthill.

Old season lambs reached a high of 361p per kg for Suffolks from Messrs Peattieshill and £202 for Suffolks from Messrs Balcaskie.

Ewes were topped at £220 for Texels from Outerston and South Dundonald.

Cockermouth

Mitchells Auctions sold cast cows to a high of £2656.57 for a Blonde from F Buchan, Roan Croft or 315.5p per kg for a Limousin from J Bell, The Fitz.

Heifers reached £2346 from Messrs Bowe Hunday Farm.

The 717 cast sheep averaged £169.55 having sold to £315 for a Beltex from JJ Crichton, Loughrigg, Egremont.

Lambs averaged £195 per head or 446p per kg selling to £257 for Texels from E Cranston, Croftlands, Bigrigg and 660p for Beltex fro JJ Crichton.

Hoggs were topped at 410p for Texels from Messrs Kelmore Hills.

Stirling (Cally)

Caledonian Marts sold heifers to average 345p having sold to 390p for a Limousin heifer for WM Pettigrew, Faskine or £2372 for a Limousin from Messrs Rearie, Riggs, .

Bullocks averaged 342p with top prices of 375p for a Bazadaise from TE Tod, Nether Longford or £2506 from Messrs Nethermyres.

Young bulls averaged 304p selling to 328p for a Shorthorn from Kincaple Farm, St Andrews.

OTMs levelled at 229p selling to 259p for a Limousin from Marshall Farming Partners

On Tuesday, new season lambs averaged 422p having reached 504p and £230 for a Texel from PG Perring, Hoprig.

Cast ewes sold to £217 for a Texel from J Gilvear, Graystale.

Ayr

Craig Wilson Ltd sold 933 sheep at their sale on Monday where 673 lambs averaged 418p per kg or £180 per head.

Top price per head was £226 for Texels from Messrs Meikle, Helentongate and Suffolks from Messrs Baird, Dalhowan.

Top price per kg was 483p for Beltex from Messrs Meikle, Helentongate.

Ewes (260) reached £204 from Messrs King, Arms.

On Tuesday, bullocks averaged 395.3p having sold to 410p for a Limousin from the Smith Family, North Boig. Heifers averaged 377.4p with top prices of 424p and £1780 for a Limousin from West Dhuloch. Cows reached £2860 for an Aberdeen Angus from Messrs Little Ittington.

Lanark

Lawrie and Symington sold heifers to £2800 and 450p per kg for a Limousin from Brockwoodlees Farm.

Bullocks reached 395p and £2128 from East Millrig Farm with young bulls selling to 332p and £2470 from East Merkland.

Some 645 lambs reached a top of £254 for a Suffolk cross from Messrs Wight, Carwood and to 487p for Beltex from Messrs Purdon, Brownsbank Farm, to average 429p. Hoggs (214) averaged 286p with top prices of 360p for a Texel from Messrs Bryson, Laigh Carnduff and £238 for another of the same from Messrs Mair, Hill Farm.

Cast ewes sold to £330 for a Texel from Midlock Farms with rams to £270 for a Texel from Greenshields.

St Boswells

Harrison and Hetherington sold 79 clean cattle, 27 cast cows, 1018 lambs, 36 hoggs and 214 cast sheep at their sale at their sale on Monday.

Bullocks (49) averaged 362p and sold to 403p or £2941 for a Limousin from,Bee Edge.

Heifers averaged 374p having sold to 440p and £2807 for a Limousin for West Meikle Pinkerton.

Young bulls cashed in at 295p with top prices of 312p and £2614.5 from Butchercote.

Lambs averaged 455p or £203 selling to 649p and £302 from Whitsome, West Newton.

Hoggs averaged £140 and sold to £190 for Texels from Roxburgh, Mill.

Cast ewes averaged £163 with a top price of £238 for Texels from Venchen Farms.

Kirkby Stephen

Harrison and Hetherington’s sale saw 1063 spring lambs produce an SQQ average of 431.1p with a top price of £260 paid for a pair of 50kg Beltex crosses from Messrs Sowerby, Terrys Farm, Ormside, or 521.4p for 42kg Beltex cross lambs from Messrs Pickard, Cheney House.

Hoggs sold to £227 for Dutch Spotted from High Meadows Farm whilst cast sheep peaked at £348 for Texel ewes from Terrys

Carlisle

Some 906 spring lambs averaged 411p per kg at Harrison and Hetherington’s sale where Texels topped the trade at £218 from Mill House. Price per kg sold to 453p for Beltex from Hillcrest.

Cast sheep peaked at £263 for a Texel ewe from M Philips, Castle Douglas.

Young bulls sold to £3994.32 for a Limousin from Upper Nisbet, Jedburgh. An 813kg Limousin cross bullock topped clean cattle at £2862.76 from Nealhouse whilst heifers realised £2709.72 for a Limousin cross from Langhorn.

The top price per kg was 390p for a Limousin heifer from Mirkbooth and 368p for a Limousin bullock from Grassgarth.

Cast cows reached £2635 for a Limousin cross from Hill House and 365p for a Limousin from Cracrop.

Huntly

United Auctions sold 452 new season lambs averaging 408p per kg and selling to 442p for 52kg Texels from Cobbleheugh, Dinnet and to £236 for 55kg Texels from Heldonside, Pluscarden.

Old season lambs averaged 293p and realised 317p for 55kg Texels from Mallyrust, Alvah and £193 for 63kg Texels from Conlandmill, Forgue.

Texels led the cast trade at £280 from Cobbleheugh.

Dingwall

At Dingwall and Highland Marts sale, lambs averaged 398.3p per kg and sold to 427p and £203 for a Texel cross from Lochdhu, Nairn.

Hoggs averaged 295p and reached 337p for a pen of Cheviots from Dorrery, Scotscalder and £164 for a Suffolk cross from Lethan.
