Bullocks and heifers averaged 395p and 403p per kg at Caledonian Marts’ sale of store cattle.

Bullocks sold to 481p for a Simmental from A and AB Wilson, Low Bogside and to £2110 for a Charolais from R Brewster, Broom.

A British Blue topped the prices per kg amongst the heifers at 540p for D Bruce, Bonnybrae, while a Limousin topped made the top price per head of £2000 for Millhall Farms, Stirling.

In-calf heifers peaked at £1750 for a Limousin from Glenside Farms, Stirling.

Limousin crosses led the trade at £2740 for 704kg bullocks from Whitehill, Gartcosh or 470.6p for a 442kg bullock from Greenbank Farms.

Heifers sold to £2560 and 438p for Limousin crosses from Whitehill.

A British Blue bull attracted the top price amongst the weaned calves at £960 from Messrs Marshall, Haggs Farm, Strathern.

On milk calves reached a high of £830 for a British Blue cross bull calf from Messrs Fleming, Craigthorn Farm, Glassford.
