NEWTON STEWART

Craig Wilson sold 302 sheep, where 290 lambs averaged 389p, peaking at £210 for Texels from W and W Stewart, Knockoyd and to 423p for Beltex from Mr Oxley, Druchtag. Cast sheep were topped at £200 for a Blue Texel from C Ramsay, High Auchneil.


STIRLING (UA)

United Auctions sold 5041 sheep. Lambs (2962) averaged 392p having sold to 468p for a Beltex from West Park and to £224 for Suffolks from Blackshiels. Old season lambs (137) averaged 281.2p and reached 292p for a Texel from Ardlarach and £181 for a Texel from Hill of Errol. Ewes and rams (1942) levelled at £325 for a Texel ewe from Merkins and £318 for a Suffolk ram from Weston.


THAINSTONE

Aberdeen and Northern Marts sold 43 bullocks averaging 349.9p, with top prices of 389p and £3013 for a Limousin cross from Artrochie, Ellon. Heifers (37) averaged 365p and sold to 414p for a Limousin cross from Whiteside, Tullynessle and to £2728 for a Limousin cross from Pityot, Bridge of Muchalls. Young bulls (16) averaged 334p and sold to 371p for a Limousin from Shannas, Clola and to £2978 for a Limousin from Clury, Dulnain Bridge. Some 112 cast cattle averaged £2205 or 286p. Beef finished cows (42) averaged £2382 and sold to £2770 twice for Limousins from Shannas, Clola with feeding types (52) cashing in at £1894 selling to £2510 for a British Blue cross from Odinstone, Shapinsay. Bulls (16) averaged £2889 and sold to £3750 for a Charolais from Darley, Fyvie.

Lambs (741) averaged 392p and sold to 447p for Texels from Auquhadlie, Auchnagatt and £229.50 for Texel crosses from Uppermill, Tarves. New season lambs SQQ (367) averaged 395.7p, while feeding sheep (566) averaged £168 selling to £279.50 for a Texel from Yarpha, Swanbister.


STIRLING (CALLY)

Caledonian Marts sold heifers averaging 372p with top prices of 420p for a Limousin from Ross Brothers, Wardhead, Strichen and £2601 for a Limousin from J and N Kerr, Bankhead, Fife. Bullocks averaged 355p and sold to 400p for a Limousin from AA and J Brand, Nethermyres, Auchtermuchty and to £2599 for a Limousin from J and N Kerr, Bankhead. Young bulls averaged 321p and peaked at 352p and £2449 for a Limousin from NA McCulloch, Kenmuir, Stranraer. OTM cattle averaged 295p and levelled at 329p and £2700 for a Limousin from J and N Kerr, Bankhead. Dairy cows averaged 264p and reached 313p for a Friesian from Balgreggan Farms, Stranraer and £2280 for a Friesian from W and M Wylie, Broompark, Bathgate.

On Tuesday, 815 lambs averaged 367p selling sold to 448p for a Beltex from Bankhead Farming, Crook of Devon and to £220 twice for Texels from PG Perring, Hoprig, Cockburnspath. Ewes (149) averaged £148 and sold to £257 for Texels from Hoprig.

DARLINGTON

Darlington Farmers Auction Mart sold 68 bulls to average 358p with a top of 401p and £3585 for a Limousin from J Layfield, Nackshivan. Steers (70) averaged 364p and sold to 428p from JR and B Anderson and Son and £3123 from F and R Simpson. Heifers (110) averaged 396p and levelled at 464p for a Limousin from Cole Hill Farm and £2992 from J E Suddes and Son. Friesian bulls reached 330p from R Hall and Son and £2150 from MA and P D Foster.

Some 1323 lambs averaged 395p and £176 and realised £250 twice from WK and MM Lamb, Doe Park and DM McLurg, Blakey Hill and 452p from W and M Kaggs and Son. Cast ewes (94) averaged £152 and sold to £291 for ewes from W Ramsay and Sons.


LANARK

Lawrie and Symington sold 11 heifers to £2824 and 440p for a Limousin from Messrs Dickinson, Brockwoodlees. Bullocks levelled at £2441 for an Aberdeen Angus from Greentowers Farms and 375p for a Limousin cross from the same home. Young bulls reached £2886 and 390p for a Limousin from Messrs Lindsay, Kepscaith. Beef cows were topped at £2580 for an Aberdeen Angus from Messrs Aitken, Traprain or to 324p for an Aberdeen Angus from J and J Kerr, Newbigging Mill.

Cast bulls reached £3200 or 297p from Messrs Murray, Carlton. Dairy cows reached £2300 from Messrs Struthers, Moatmains or to 300p from Messrs Trainer Byretown.

Some 1589 lambs averaged 383p with an SQQ of 382p and sold to £234 for a Texel from Messrs Wight, Carwood and to 435p for a Texel from Messrs Struthers, Colliwlaw. Cast sheep (1463) averaged £145.90 and sold to £345 for Texel tups from University of Edinburgh and £335 for Texel ewes from Messrs Dechmont and Boghouse.


CARLISLE

Harrison and Hetherington sold 108 bulls to a high of £3669 for a Charolais from Messrs Campbell, Thrunton, Alnwick and 418p for a Charolais cross from DA Harrison, Hill House Farm, Wigton. Dairy bulls were topped at £2386 for a Holstein Friesian from Messrs Graham, South Lambhill, Longtown and 326p from Messrs Preston for a Friesian. Steers reached £2970 for a Limousin cross from Messrs Studholme, Nealhouse, Carlisle and to 392p twice for a Limousin from Messrs Spence, Roberthill and Messrs Craik, Waterside, Castle Douglas. Heifers sold to £2830 for a Limousin from Nealhouse, Carlisle and to 418p for a Limousin cross from Messrs Airey, Carlisle. Cast cows sold to £3502 for a Charolais from Messrs Goldie, South Bowerhouses and 415.5p for a Limousin from from Messrs Carruthers, Merkland. Bulls reached £3121 and 289.5p for a Hereford from Mouswwald Grange.

Some 1406 lambs averaged 384p selling to £244 for a Beltex from Messrs Neill, Upper Tinwald and to 525p for Beltex from Messrs Urwim, Hill House. Cast ewes (410) averaged £153 and sold to £265 for a Texel ewe from Kirsty Dixon, High Nun Close. Rams were topped at £197 for a Texel from Messrs McCornick, Barnbackle.


ST BOSWELLS

Harrison and Hetherington sold 23 bullocks averaging 379p with top prices of 404p paid for a Limousin from Messrs Dandie, Learielaw and £2887 from Messrs Dixon, Whitsome West Newton. Heifers (28) averaged 401p and sold to 436p for a Limousin from Hamilton, Bee Edge Farm and to £2879 for an Aberdeen Angus from Ramsden Farming, Kaimridge. Cast cows (36) averaged 292p and sold to 335p twice and £2927 for Charolais from Messrs Jeffrey, Kersknowe Farm.

Some 1970 lambs averaged 390p or £176 per head having sold to £266 for Texels from Messrs Preacher, Holylee and to 465p for Texels from Huntington Farm Partnership. Cast ewes (589) averaged £185 and reached £315 for a pen of 3 Texel ewes from Huntington Farm Partnership. Tups levelled at £275 for a Beltex from Messrs Cormack, Oxnam Neuk.


CASTLE DOUGLAS

Wallets Marts sold 1036 lambs with an SQQ of 375.56p having sold to £236 for Texels from Douganhill Farms and 414p for Beltex from Messrs McCulloch, Glentoo. Cast sheep (280) sold to £255 for Texel ewes from Messrs Craig, Compstonend with rams to £198 for a Texel from Douganhill Farms.
