THAINSTONE

Aberdeen and Northern Marts sold 57 under 30-month bullocks to 421p for a Limousin cross from Whiteside, Tullynessle and £2778 for a Charolais cross from Muldearie Mains, Keith. Heifers (64) sold to 429p for a Limousin from South Crichie, St Katherines and £2859 for a Limousin from Crichie, Inverurie. Bulls (46) sold to 374p twice for a limousin from Shannas, Clola and £3493 for a Charolais from Milton of Collieston, Ellon.

Beef finished cows (83) averaged £2120 and sold to £2840 for a British Blue cross from Braebuster, Deerness. Beef feeding cows (36) averaged £1709 and sold to £1950 for an Aberdeen Angus from Scholland, Virkie. Boning cows (24) averaged £1241 and sold to £1540 for a Hereford cross. Bulls (14) averaged £2450 and sold to £2690 twice for a Limousin from Cott of Hollan, Tankerness and a Limousin from Bush of Muldearie, Keith. One dairy cow sold to £1070 for a Holstein from Heads of Auchinderran, Aultmore.

New season lambs (1003) averaged 299.3p and sold to 362.5p for Beltexs from Muir Farm, Alford and £180 for a Suffolk from Muirton, Corse. New season lambs SQQ up to 45.5kg (377) averaged 307.8p. Feeding ewes and rams (1216) averaged £124.67 and sold to £285 for Texels from 2 Ballochview, Grange.

STIRLING (CALLY)

Caledonian Marts Ltd lambs averaged 308p and sold to 384p for a Beltex from D Nicol, Auchtenny, Forgandenny and £190 for a Texel from A P Johnston, Blindburn, Sorn. Cast ewes sold to £211 for a Texel from Braco Castle, Loanhead of Duchally, Auchterarder. Tups levelled at £197 for a Cheviot from J Gilvear, Graystale, Stirling.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1347 lambs to an average of 317p or £142 and topping at £190 for a Texel from A and C B Millar, Auldmuir and 388p for Beltexs from J Meikle, Helentongate. Some 727 cast ewes and tups were forward for sale, levelling at £332 for Texel ewes from A Brown and Sons, Kirkhill and tups to £218 for a Beltex from M Mitchell and Son, Whatriggs.

Some 85 cattle were forward for sale. Heifers averaged 390.11p or £2196.81 and reached 420p for a Limousin cross from The Smith Family, North Boig. Young bulls averaged 361p or £1940 and reached 362p for a Limousin from South Hourat. Cast bulls topped at £2500 for a Limousin from Drongan House. Clean cattle reached £1850 for a Friesian Bullock from Laigh, Langcraig. Cows levelled at £2400 for a Shorthorn from Messrs Mossend.

United Auctions Stirling sold 3594 new season lambs selling to an average of 317.82p and reaching 417p for Beltexs from Wardhead and £208 for a Texel from Harestone. Some 2520 ewes and rams were forward topping at £245 for a Texel ewe from Carrat. Rams levelled at £315 for a Texel from No.2 Hill of Errol.

LANARK

Lawrie and Symington Ltd had 34 heifers forward which sold to £2618 from Walkerdyke, Strathaven or 452p for a Limousin from North Boig, New Cumnock. Bullocks sold to £2681 for a Charolais from North Boig, New Cumnock or 410p twice from North Boig and Mid Shawtonhill, Chapelton for British Blue. Young bulls realised £2368 or 320p for a Luing from Laigh Braidley, Darvel.

Cast cows reached £2610 for a Charolais from Lawriesmuir, Lesmahagow or 330p for a Limousin cross from Hartside, Biggar. Cast bulls sold to £2400 for an Aberdeen Angus from Crookboat, Lanark or to 205p for a Charolais from Scrogton, Douglas. Dairy Cows levelled at £2290 for a Montbeliarde from Moatmains, Lesmahagow or to 288p from the same home.

Some 2614 lambs were forward averaging 309p (SQQ 312p) and levelled at 387p for a Texel from Messrs Dow, Dovecot and £320 for Texels from Messrs Campbell, Strawfrank. Cast ewes and rams (1477) averaged £133.55 and realised £305 for Texels from Messrs Campbell, Strawfrank and £156 for Blackface ewes from Messrs Smith, Corsswoodhill. C and D Auction Marts saw 2638 lambs average 315.5p (SQQ 319.4p) and reach 386p for a Beltex from J Watret, Burnside, Annan and £210 for Texel lambs from D and T Bradley Farmer, Wester Parkgate, Dumfries. Some 3806 cast ewes and rams were forward topping at £330 for a Texel ewe from Beckfoot Farms and £260 for a Texel ram from T C Whiteford, Tercrosset, Brampton.

C and D Auction Marts had 775 lambs forward which averaged 314.4p (SQQ 307p) and sold to 347p for a Texel from Southwick Estate, Southwick and £173 for a Texel from Messrs Nairn, Slacks. Cast ewes and rams (487) topped at £200 for a Suffolk ewe from Messrs Austin, Woodcroft and £170 for a Texel ram from Messrs Hyslop, Netherton.

Hexham and Northern Marts sold 1453 cast ewes and tups to £300 for a pair of Texel ewes from W J Scott Ltd, Low Leam and £250 for Texel rams from W Walton and Sons, Ogle Castle.

Some 2417 lambs were forward for sale topping at £219 for a Texel cross lamb from G Williamson, Longshaws and 395p for a Texel cross from D Collingwood.

Clean cattle reached £2370 and 385.5p for a Charolais from F T Walton, Flotterton. Young bulls reached £2532 and 251.5p for a south devon from The Deans. Cast cows levelled at 269.5p and £2177 for a Charolais cross Saler cow from H and E Bird and Sons, Colwell Hill.
