Glenrock Angelofthenorth proved the star attraction at the Forefront Females sale of pedigree Limousins at Carlisle, selling for the top price of 28,000gns.

The sale, which comprised females and embryos from three herds – Bruce Goldie’s Goldies enterprise; Stephen and Thomas Illingworth’s Glenrock and Craig Ridley’s Haltcliffe business – was led by a March 2025-born heifer from the Illingworths’ 50-cow herd. Backed by home-bred genetics on both sides, this natural-born calf is sired by the Wilodge LJ son Glenrock Stillgame and out of the Haltcliffe Doctor-sired Glenrock Northernlight. A member of the herd’s show team, having stood first at the Scottish Grand Prix at Stirling and the Royal Highland Show, Angelofthenorth was knocked down to Karl Suddes of the Corsay herd, Co Durham.

Glenrock enjoyed a flying trade, selling four of the top six highest-priced lots, with others being knocked down at 26,000gns, 19,000gns and 14,000gns.

The dearest of those was Glenrock Voodoo Magic, a 22-month-old natural-born heifer also by Glenrock Stillgame but out of the interbreed show-winning heifer Glenrock Red Ruby, a Sympa daughter. She was knocked down to Messrs Barron, Burnhope, Durham, Co Durham.

Another Stillgame daughter, Glenrock Amilliondreams, made 19,000gns when purchased by Messrs Evans, Tregaron, Cardiganshire. This 14-month-old, which is a twin-born calf to a female, is out of the Whinfellpark Lumo daughter Glenrock Scottishqueen. She has also made her mark on the show circuit, standing first in the baby heifer class at the Scottish Grand Prix on her sole previous outing.

The Illingworths’ 14,000gns sale came for the embryo-born Glenrock Aphrodite, the last heifer forward from Glenrock Jewel, which is a daughter of Glenrock Spangle – the herd’s matriarch cow which has produced progeny valued at more than £500,000. This 17-month-old, sired by the AI bull Goldies Oxo, an Ampertaine Foreman son, was knocked down to Messrs Percival and Sons, Milford, Belper, Derbyshire.

Dumfriesshire breeder Bruce Goldie also enjoyed a buoyant trade, with heifers at 20,000gns, 15,000gns and 10,000gns. Topping this section was Goldies Verysweet, a two-year-old natural-born heifer by Knock MSport. She is out of the Ampertaine Opportunity daughter Goldies Sweetgirl, making her a full sister to Goldies Vase and Goldies Teresa – the dam of 12,000gns Goldies Veresa. Verysweet sold to an undisclosed buyer.

Making 15,000gns was Goldies Amber, a 15-month-old natural-born heifer by Pabo Old Spice. Amber is out of another Ampertaine Opportunity daughter, Goldies Star, which is notably a full sister to Redlady, the dam of Goldies Volcano, which was supreme champion at Carlisle in February 2026 and sold for 60,000gns. The heifer sold to Messrs Williams, Llanwnnen, Lampeter.

Goldies Redlady was also the dam of the herd’s 10,000gns heifer, Goldies Alexa, which was another purchased by an undisclosed buyer. This natural-born yearling heifer is sired by Burnbank Sergeant.

Top price for Craig Ridley’s Haltcliffe herd from Hesket Newmarket was 11,000gns, paid for Haltcliffe Adele, a January 2025-born heifer by Westpit Obama, out of the Aultside Meanmachine-sired Haltcliffe Rachel. The buyers were Messrs Kitson, Hutton Rudby, Yarm, Cleveland.

Averages: Goldies – 15 lots and three embryos, £8207; Glenrock –16 lots and four embryos, £11,065; Haltcliffe – nine lots and four embyros, £7275.
