Some 548 lambs sold to an average of 308p or £137 per head. Topping at 329p was a Beltex from S MacTier, Boghouse and £180 for a pen of Texel lambs from K Forsyth, Baltier Bungalow. Cast sheep (220) levelled at £250 for Texels from K Forsyth, Baltier Bungalow. Tups topped at £200 for a Texel from B Vance, Mid Skeog.

THAINSTONE

Aberdeen and Northern Marts sold 19 under-30-month bullocks to 339p for a Limousin cross from Muldearie Mains, Keith and £2861.25 for a Charolais cross from Mill of Alvah, Alvah. Heifers (19) sold to 397p for a Limousin cross and £2645.50 for British Blue cross both from Pityot, Bridge of Muchalls. Young bulls sold to 329p for a Simmental from March Cottage, Mavsey and £3404.70 for a Simmental from Pitgavney Estate, Elgin.

Beef finished cows (51) averaged £2314 and sold to £3210 for a Charolais from Bankhead, Clatt. Beef feeding cows (62) averaged £1861 and sold to £2790 for a British Blue from Huntly Lodge, Huntly. Boning cows (9) averaged £1168 and sold to £1430 for a Blonde D’Aquitaine cross. Bulls (10) averaged £2593 and sold to £3340 for a Limousin from Crichie, Inverurie.

New season lambs (1082) averaged 306p (+6.7p) and sold to 404.9p for a Beltex from Birkenbower, Lumsden and £208 for a Suffolk from Cranna Bridge, Aberchirder. New season lambs SQQ up to 45.5kg (402) averaged 316.6p (+ 8.8p). Feeding Ewes and rams (1030) averaged £120 and sold to £239.50 for Texel ewes from Gowanwell, Auchnagatt and £181 for a Suffolk ram from Berry Farm, Scalloway.

STIRLING (UA)

United Auctions, Stirling sold 4567 lambs to an average of 329.50p and sold to 391p for a Texel from Easter Ochtermuthill and £208 for a Texel from Glenwrath. Ewes and rams (3367) realised £298 for a Texel ewe from Achnaba and £170 for a Texel ram from Inverdunning.

STIRLING (CALLY)

Caledonian Marts Ltd lambs averaged 315p and sold to 404p for a Beltex from G and J Davie, Harviesmailing and £190 for the same lamb. Cast ewes topped at £278 for a Texel from E Robertson, Skeoch. Tups levelled at £270 for a Texel from D McFadzean, Balado.

AYR

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 2031 lambs averaging £141 or 316p SQQ and sold to £184 for Texels from Messrs Miller, Baidlandhill and 353p for Texels from Messrs Young, Polquhairn. Cast ewesm rams and hoggs (532) sold to £300 for a Blue Texel from L Cousar, Howcommon and £222 for a Texel tup from J Meikle, Helentongate.

Some 106 cattle were forward for sale. Heifers (13) averaged 401.5p or £2328 and sold to 418p for a Limousin from The Young Family, Girvan and £2531.50 for a Limousin from the Smith Family, North Boig. Bulls topped at £2750 for a Charolais from Messrs Craig, Straiton. Clean cattle realised £1900 for a Limousin heifer from Low Castleton and cast cows topped at £2380 for a Saler from Girvan Mains.

LANARK

Lawrie and Symington Ltd had forward 35 bullocks and heifers for sale. Heifers sold to £2767 for a Limousin from Heatheryhall, Thankerton or 452p for a Limousin from Messrs Hill, Strathaven. Bullocks sold to £2879 for a Charolais from Lawhead, West Calder and 420p for a Limousin from Messrs Hill, Strathaven. Young bulls topped at £2646 for an Aberdeen Angus from Auchenhard, West Calder and 330p for a Simmental from East Merklands, Strathaven.

Cast cows levelled at £2470 for an Aberdeen Angu from Covanhill, Lanark and 333p for a Galloway from Eastfield, Biggar. Cast bulls sold to £2600 for an Aberdeen Angus from Lochlyoch, Biggar and 222p from the same home.

Some 2717 lambs were forward for sale averaging 316p (SQQ 316p) and sold to £200 for Texels from Hartside and Blackhill and 395p for a Beltex from Messrs Sanderson, Biggarshiels. Cast ewes and rams (1684) averaged £143 and sold to £385 for a Texel tup from Gibson, Cowgrove and £325 for a Texel ewe from Bankhead Road.

HEXHAM

Some 1901 lambs were forward for sale topping at £211 for Texel cross lambs from I Burn and Sons, Grange Houses and 377.5p from A Walby, West Side Farm. Ewes levelled at £175 for a Texel cross from Kirkley Hall. Some 1426 cast ewes and tups were forward and topped at £295 for a Texel ewe from T Common and Son, Low Ardley. Rams levelled at £270 for a Texel from J F Johnson and Son, Tuthill.

Cattle topped at £2172 and 404.5p for a Limousin cross heifer from WY and RW Ryle Farming, South Acton. Cast cows reached 289.5p for a Limousin cross from Telfer Brothers, Make-me-rich and £2482 for a Limousin cow from the same home.

COCKERMOUTH

Mitchells Auction Co ltd sold 119 cattle. Topping at £3424 or 400p for a Limousin heifer from W and R Lawson, Stubbsgill and 446p for a Limousin heifer from JJ Crichton, Loughrigg. Steers realised £3294 for a Limousin from Ms Miller Ltd, Arkleby Hall and 428p for a Limousin from J Dixon and Sons Ltd, Lesson Hall. Bulls reached £3380 for a Limousin from W M Dick and Sons, Mains of Throsk and 424p for a Limousin from the same home.
