The monthly dairy sale at Carlisle saw Fleckvieh bulls sell twice at 4000gns while fresh heifers topped at £2150 to average £1507 for 111 heifers.

The trade of the day was for four pedigree Fleckvieh bulls consigned by SQ Genetics, Northern Ireland, and with big genomic proofs, two sold for 4000gns.

The first, Idefix was sired by Imperativ and was +645 milk +31kg butterfat +23kg protein. The second to sell for 4000gns was Joschi, sired by Jack and bred from a Vorwerk dam with large butterfat and protein figures.

Topping the heifer trade at £2150 was a daughter of Morningview Aftershock consigned by Lowick Northfield Farms, Berwick Upon Tweed. She was producing 32kgs and bred from a Gold Crown dam with over 9000kgs with butterfat over 5%.

Messrs Hastwell, Buildings Farm, Kirby Stephen sold four heifers all for £2000 or above topping twice at £2050. The first heifer to sell for £2050 was sired by Siemers Mogul Pety giving 36kgs and the second was sired by Gerrard Buckie giving 34kgs.

The Mackie family from Westboard, Twecher, sold a daughter of Grafetti giving 42kgs for £1980, she was bred from a VG89 Decker dam who gave over 12000kgs as a three year old.

The Balcurvie herd from Fife sold thirteen very milky heifers topping at £1920 for a heifer by Buitenlust Martijn giving 31kgs.

Matthew Gemmell from the Brownfield Holstein herd consigned four wide rumped heifers with open deep frames topping at £1980 for a heifer giving 33kgs.

The trade for in-calf heifers topped at £1380 for a heifer due in May to the Angus consigned by the University of Newcastle.
