Limousin cross heifers led the way at Dingwall and Highland marts' 16th anniversary show and sale of 1505 store cattle, selling to 308.1p and £1340 from The Rowans, Brora. Heifers produced an average of 202.7p whilst bullocks levelled at 211.3p.

Charolais crosses topped the bullocks at 297.5p from Bogburn, Duncanston and £1290 twice from Fiddlefield, Muir of Ord and Woodend, Killearnan.

Young bulls sold to 212.8p for a 235kg Charolais cross from Bogburn and £720 for a pair of 372kg Limousin crosses from Tomchrasky, Glenmoriston, to level at 173.2p.

A steady trade was seen throughout at Caledonian marts' fortnightly sale of 241 store cattle, where heifers and bullocks averaged 196p and 201p respectively.

Bullocks sold to 218p for Simmental crosses from G S Stewart, Wester Whin, Slamannan and to £1220 for an Aberdeen-Angus from CML Grazings, Millhall. Whilst heifers peaked at 217p for Beef Shorthorns from W Erskine, Woodcockdale, Linlithgow and to £1050 on two occasions from W and S Main, Drumbowie, Airdrie and A and J Orr, Hill O’ Harthill, Harthill.

Black and whites sold to 141p for a pen of 12 from D T Marshall, West Kirkland, Newton Stewart and to £600 from the same home.

Breeding cattle sold to £1600 for a British Blue cross heifer with calf from J Gilmour and son, Drumelzier, Denny.

Heifers peaked at 205.4p and £1105 for a British Blue cross from Balnamoon, Keith. Bullocks and heifers produced averages of 195.9p and 186.7p respectively.

Bulls sold to 157.7p for a 336kg Simmental cross and £690 for a 442kg of the same breed from Nether Auchinderran, Keith.
