Tom and Gillian Blamire's pre-sale champion, Whinnow Kasey, a ewe lamb from Mid Whinnow, Thursby, went on to secure the top price of 1900gns at the Zwartbles in-lamb female sale at Carlisle.

January-born she is backed by home-bred genetics being a daughter of Whinnow Fabio and out of Whinnow Hay-hoe which goes back to Whinnow Dark Secret. The hammer fell to Messrs Stayt, Bourton-On-The-Water, Cheltenham.

The same home sold another for 1000gns, in the form of the ewe lamb, Whinnow Karla, by the same sire, this time out of the Wallacetown Flint sired-dam, Whinnow Gem. Messrs Metcalf, Ingleton, Darlington, Co Durham, were the final bidders.

Joyce and Neil Millar, Woodhouse Mains, Kirtlebridge, Lockerbie, sold their best for 1500gns to Messrs Brandi, Halbeath, Cupar. Their gimmer stood reserve in the pre-sale show and is by Joyfield Emperor, out of the Millburn Sam daughter, Joyfield Gold Digger. She sold in lamb to Cernyw Jugernot.

Barmurrie Juliet made 1300gns for Mark and Gillian Smith, Barmurrie, Balmaclellan, Castle Douglas. Second in the gimmer class, she is a daughter of Barmurrie Aztec, out of Barmurrie Estella, which goes back to Barmurrie Dynamite. Messrs Soulsby, Newdigate, Surrey, took Juliet home having being served to Barmurrie Fred.

Kathryn Cowin, Carnwath, Lanark, went to 1000gns on two occasions, firstly for the fourth prize gimmer, Brookdene Jubilee from RJ Heigh, Brook House, Bentham. A Kiln Fields Black Label daughter, she is out of Brookdene Cher, and sold due with a pair to Castlehill Guardian.

Selling for the same money was the fifth prize gimmer, Fin’s View Jetsetter, from Harry Preston, Lady Close, Lady Lane, Bingley, West Yorkshire. She is the result of the sire, Olbre Enzo, onto Strome More Edana and sold carrying two lambs to Hayberries Full Tilt.
