Bluefaced Leicester rams were the talking point at the Kintyre Agricultural Society’s show and sale of breeding sheep at Campbeltown, securing several of the lead prices including the day’s high of £1600 from D Armour and Son, Kilkeddan.
The sale, conducted by C&D Auctions, saw Bluefaced Leicesters produce a new centre record average of £945.
The Kilkeddan shearling was knocked down to R Millar, High Cattadale, who also secured another from Fraser MacPhail at £1500.
Texel rams were also well bid for, peaking at £1300 for a shearling from J and J McLachlan, Benmore Street, bought by R Currie, Low Dunashery, who also took another from the same home at £1000. Texels averaged £808.
Suffolk rams levelled at £921 having sold to £1100 from Jamie McPhee, Low Ranachan, which was purchased by HF Duncan, East Skeroblin.
Cross-bred rams reached £1150 for a Texel cross Beltex from J and J McLachlan, Benmore Street.
Blackface gimmers from Brennanlea topped the females at £250, while Mule gimmers peaked at £240 for a pen from Keil.
Ewe lambs sold to £165 for Mules from Highbank Park, and to £155 from Corran and Albyn Avenue.
