Celebrating 40 years in the animal health industry this year, specialist feed producer, Alltech, has teamed up with its daughter company, Keenan to offer its InTouch nutritional service free for the next three months.
This is in recognition of the impact Covid-19 is having on lives and businesses, and the joint effort aims to help livestock farmers navigate their way through this challenging time.
“The farming industry is somewhat used to pressure, volatility and uncertainty, and it’s times like these that test and demonstrate our strength and resilience. The farming community have a relentless passion to survive, thrive and feed the population, no matter the circumstances,” said Fergal McAdam, Alltech UK’s general manager.
“From April 1, 2020 to June 1, 2020, farmers without the InTouch hardware already installed can now benefit from our free, remote, over-the-phone support service,” he said. “This has been designed to support farmers by helping measure, monitor and manage the biggest variable cost on-farm – feed.
InTouch combines the latest in feed-management software, mixer wagon controller technology and skilled feeding specialists to work proactively with farmers to optimise feeding accuracy and ultimately drive animal performance.
“Those who wish to access this service but do not currently have InTouch technology installed, can confidentially provide basic input and output information over-the-phone. We can then analyse the information provided and give diet performance data and recommendations based on available feeds,” said Mr McAdam.
“We are confident that this ‘virtual boots on the ground’ service will be of great benefit to farmers and the wider supply chain. Whether farms are experiencing a peak in demand or a cut in milk price, it remains as important as ever that we are on-hand to offer independent support, guidance and recommendations to continue to improve animal performance, health and welfare, while driving feed efficiency,” he concluded.
